Annual Salary: $97,035+ (Actual Salary will be based on skills,competencies, and like experience)
Job Summary:The Budget Director plays a critical role in overseeing and managing thefinancial activities of an the district. They are responsible fordeveloping, implementing, and monitoring the district's budgetaryprocess to ensure fiscal responsibility and efficiency. The Budget Directorcollaborates closely with senior management, department heads, and otherstakeholders to align budgetary goals with strategic objectives. They mustpossess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deepunderstanding of financial principles and practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1. Budget Planning and Development:Lead the development of the district's annual budget in collaborationwith department heads and senior management.- Analyze financial data, market trends, and organizationalpriorities to forecast revenue and expenses accurately.- Ensure that budget allocations align with strategic goals andoperational needs.- Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency enhancements tooptimize resource allocation2. Budget Implementation and Monitoring:- Oversee the implementation of the approved budget, ensuringcompliance with financial policies and procedures.- Monitor budget performance regularly and provide timely reports tosenior management and stakeholders.- Identify variances between budgeted and actual expenses and recommendcorrective actions as needed.- Conduct financial analysis to assess the financial health of thedistrict and identify areas for improvement.3. Financial Reporting and Analysis:- Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including incomestatements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.- Interpret financial data to provide insights into the district'sfinancial performance and trends.- Present financial information to senior management and the Board ofEducation in a clear and concise manner.- Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory agencies to ensurecompliance with financial reporting requirements.4. Strategic Planning and Decision Support:- Provide financial expertise and guidance to senior management instrategic decision-making processes.- Participate in strategic planning sessions to align budgetarypriorities with long-term district objectives.- Conduct financial modeling and scenario analysis to support strategicinitiatives and investment decisions.Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience:Master's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or arelated field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, CPA) preferred.Minimum of (10) years of progressively responsible budgeting and financialplanning (or related roles) preferably in a large organization orgovernment agency. Minimum of 5 years supervising staff.Preferred at hire to have a MBA or CPA certification.Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial dataand provide actionable insights.Advanced oral and written communication, English language, interpersonalrelations, organizational, and supervisory skills.Advanced customer service, critical thinking, and problem-solvingskills. Advanced math and accounting skills.Operating knowledge of District accounting software/system within threemonths after hire.Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to accounting and generallyaccepted accounting principles and standards.Ability to lead the work of teams, committees, and workgroups.Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
