The Senior Systems Administrator will be tasked with working across a broad range of technologies and/or depth in few technologies. This may include support for servers, host systems, voice, data, automation, security, storage networks, cloud systems, and domain management. In this role you will be responsible for delivering robust, reliable, and scalable solutions and keeping IT systems and the business running while enabling quick responses to both geographic growth and IT systems growth. You can also expect to be involved with the strategy infrastructure and/or end user systems and project planning.
The Role
Collaborate with all IT staff to implement robust, reliable, and scalable infrastructure, security, and or end user systems (rather than the low-cost solutions with higher TCO) that will advance the IT strategy
Evaluate, Plan, Lead and/or execute lifecycle replacement of systems - physical hosts/servers, SAN's, switches, access points, other networking equipment, and Server OS updates and upgrades, or end user software
Participate in planning for these lifecycle replacement projects
Responsible, along with the team, to maintain uptime of critical systems
Evaluate, Plan, Lead and/or execute new site implementation projects
Evaluate, Plan, Lead and/or execute security and vulnerability patching and other security initiatives
Evaluate, Plan, Lead and/or participate in the effort to gather input from business plans, application owners, life cycle replacements and emerging technologies to create future plans
Lead cross functional teams to evaluate new systems. Plan and lead projects to implement these systems in a way that minimizes support requirements
Provide technical counseling and guidance to junior team members
Lead collaborative efforts with the larger IT team to establish technical standards
Document system standards and/or end user guides
Apply analytical skills to resolve complex problems.
Identify and mitigate risk.
Train other IT team members to empower them to support systems
Develop proposals to recommend solutions using performance benchmarks, data, and critical analysis when requested
Build out and/or define meaningful metrics and leverage them for continuous improvement
Continuous education and/or monitoring of industry trends and technologies that are relevant
Act as a point of escalation to provide level 2/3 support for server, host systems, voice, data, automation, security, storage networks, cloud systems, and domain management.
Responsible for afterhours call rotation
Performs other duties as assigned
Skills and Experience Experience with technologies such as Windows Server, Azure, VMware, SQL, and Active Directory
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment with a level of self-initiative to do this without management support
Strong customer service orientation
Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Ability to lead team projects
Excellent organization skills
Available to work in a 24-hour, 7 day a week environment
Network fundamentals with Cisco experience preferred
Minimum 5 years' experience in systems' administration.
Bachelor's degree in an IT or Engineering discipline preferred. Equivalent experience with demonstrated results and experience considered.
