Title: System Engineer
Location: Santa Clara, CA 95050 (Hybrid)
Duration: 12+ months
Pay Range: $57-$65/hr.

Client Overview:
Nanopore-based DNA sequencing company dedicated to making genetic testing easy and affordable. They are developing a revolutionary technology that will improve healthcare and thus, the lives of millions of people, with a wide variety of applications.
The Position:
The client is looking for a motivated and team-oriented individual who is passionate about revolutionary sequencing technology.
The resource will participate in the development of the platforms, focusing on the integration of process, hardware, and software into the sequencer as well as troubleshooting.
This includes:
Operation of instrumentation, setting up biologicals and buffer solutions. Initiating runs and managing data.
Editing of run information in Python
Protocol development and optimization using Python and C++ software languages.
Script development for system testing and troubleshooting using Python and C++ software languages.
The development of test and measurement methodology for the characterization of the system, subsystems, and processes.
The design, execution, analysis, and presentation of experiments to measure specific system performance parameters. Development of accurate system, subsystem, and process descriptions through a deeper understanding of underlying system physics.
Integration of system components, test, and characterization of the interaction of components.
Preparation of components of control software for system operation and component testing.
Characterization of fluidic components, pathways, and processes.
Optimization of the setup of all system components.
Input on the generation of system requirements based on system performance.
Verification of the requirements including the development of processes and tests, analysis, and presentation of data.
This will include appropriate experimental preparation and statistical analysis of the data.

B.S. or M.S. in Bioengineering, Bio-medical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related discipline preferably with a background in instrumentation development with min 2+ years of experience.
Strong mechanical and electrical skills, electro-mechanical integration, and troubleshooting skills are a must, familiarity with working with microfluidics is a plus.
Programming experience with Python required C++ a plus.
Understanding of DNA manipulation techniques and sequencing methodologies a plus
Meticulous attention to detail and excellent written and electronic record-keeping skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
