Senior DSP Engineer

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Principal Engineer with a strong background in Digital Signal Processing applied to complex spatial computing, image and video processing, and visualization applications. In this team of leaders role, you will be an individual contributor and work on the design, development, and implementation of signal processing algorithms for our radar-based health and safety platforms. This role requires a strong background in signal processing theory and real-time implementation on embedded platforms. You will also work in a collaborative team environment to help envision, architect, and prioritize our platforms signal processing features. While not mandatory, our ideal candidate would also bring meaningful Machine Learning experience, ideally in similar image, video, and/or radar data processing applications.

The Jobs Responsibilities

As a collaborative subject-matter expert (SME) on a Team of SMEs, you will use your superpowers (listed above) to collaborate with others with their superpowers (youll work with others who excel at business strategy, product management, user experience and industrial design, electronics design and engineering, software architecture and development, supply chain and logistics management, finance and business modeling, SCRUM and program management, business development and contracting, sales, and marketing) in a supportive and safe team setting to achieve company goals.

You will be responsible for:

? Design, develop, and optimize DSP algorithms for embedded hardware platforms using high-level and assembly languages to ensure real-time performance and resource efficiency.

? Analyze and interpret signal data to improve detection, tracking, and classification performance.

? Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware engineers, and software developers to ensure seamless integration of DSP components.

? Work closely with hardware engineers to optimize algorithms for specific hardware architectures and assist in system integration.

? Conduct performance evaluations and simulations to validate algorithm performance and identify areas for improvement.

? Craft publication-quality data visualizations highlighting results and improvements

? Perform system-level integration and testing of signal processing components.

? Conduct performance analysis and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues.

? Clearly communicate technical concepts and progress not only within your team but also to other teams across the company. Ensure that all departments understand the work that you are doing and how it aligns with and supports the broader company goals.

? Develop and maintain documentation for design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.

? Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in DSP methodologies and technologies.

? Hire, train, and develop team members to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.

Key Technical Requirements

To hit the ground running, you are comfortable across the entire engineering life cycle from system design to algorithm development to system testing and optimization, leading to a successful product launch. In particular:

? In-depth knowledge of signal processing techniques, including filtering, modulation, demodulation, spectral analysis, Fourier transforms, and statistical signal processing.

? Familiarity with radar tracking methodologies, such as alpha-beta filters, Kalman filters, or multi-hypothesis trackers (MHT)

? Proficiency in implementing signal processing algorithms using programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C/C++.

? Fluency on data science tools like NumPy/Scikit-learn, and cloud services (Google Cloud Platform).

? Solid understanding of software development methodologies and version control systems.

? Experience with real-time signal processing, DSP platforms, or embedded systems.

? Experience with real-time fixed-point signal processing on embedded systems, including DSP processors and FPGAs.

? Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on system-level performance optimization.

? Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment. In addition, while not essential, it is a definite plus if:

? You have knowledge of RF engineering principles and practices.

? You have designed, developed, and optimized advanced DSP algorithms for signal processing applications, focusing on radar signal processing and background subtraction.

? You have expertise in radar signal processing and object detection from RF signals, including algorithms such as CFAR, SVD, and other radar signal processing techniques.

? You have experience analyzing and preprocessing radar data to enhance signal quality, reduce noise, and extract relevant features.

? You have machine learning experience, particularly in applying ML techniques to radar signal processing tasks.

? You have experience with one or more of the following: radar-to-image projection, image segmentation, video object detection, or target detection in radar signal

? You have experience implementing and optimizing data augmentation techniques (e.g., image flipping, rotation, scaling, text synonym replacement, SMOTE) to enhance model performance and robustness

Education and Experience

? A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

? 8+ years of relevant experience in data science.

? Real-world work experience in relevant roles in a commercial setting.

? Ideally, full life cycle experience with an electronics product that has shipped and achieved meaningful commercial success.

? Preference for candidates with experience in a startup or fast-paced environment and exposure to ambient sensing and sensor fusion technologies.
