Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the housekeeper assists in the cleaning of the camp buildings and other facilities consistent with the mission and established policies and procedures of the camp. Willingness to work hard and the ability to work independent or direct supervision as well as part of a team effort.
Essential Functions:
- Personal appearance will be appropriate to the days work and will be an indication of your support to the image we want to project to the public.
- Be prompt and conscientious at every job assignment and always be aware of the safety factors involved in the task and hand
- Ensure the areas needed for upcoming events are clean and ready to be used.
- Notify Operations Manager of any housekeeping concerns
Cabins
* All rooms and hallways swept clean
+ - cob webs dusted down
+ - storage/closet areas dusted down
+ - blinds dusted down and cleaned
* All bathrooms cleaned and mopped
+ - showers scrubbed down and disinfected
+ - toilets cleaned and emptied
* Dust down windows, closets and cabinets
* Wash dirty linen
* Make up beds with clean linen
* Clean bathrooms
+ - scrub down showers and tubs
+ - scrub down sink
+ - clean toilets
+ - restock paper supplies
+ - sweep and mop
+ - clean mirrors
* Clean out refrigerators
* Wash windows as needed
May be required to clean meeting spaces as needed. All other duties as may be requested by the Operations Manager or Camp Director. May be required to assist in other departments as needed.
Working Conditions:
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards of the site and facilities, camper and staff behavior.
- Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing or walking for long periods of time (60 minutes or more)
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis as needed to perform necessary duties.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission, philosophy, culture, protocol and organizational structure.
- Must have ability to work well independently in a detailed, professional and courteous manner.
- Combination of college education, training and experience in the camping industry.
- Friendly and personable. Excellent customer service skills required.
- Must be 21 years or older.
- A team player; must work well with others.
- Experience in supervision of staff.
- Must have good communication skills and pay close attention to detail.
- Required to have a thorough knowledge of building policies, procedures and event requirements.
- Word processing experience. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel especially valuable.
- Possess a valid CA drivers license.
Note: Due to the particular camp program in session, you may be asked to assist in other duties not directly listed in this job description. This is necessary for a smooth operation of camp. Staff members are expected to be flexible and cooperate cheerfully.
