Position Summary:
UTHealth Houston is looking for an Asset Management Administrator to work with our Information Technology department. The IT Asset Management Administrator is responsible for maintaining an accurate and complete inventory of IT assets through the inventory life cycle process using the Central IT Inventory software. This position will be utilized by two departments - IT Infrastructure (Hardware and Software for the University) and UXS Central (User Experience or Customer Service area). There are some vehicles used by the department that this employee will keep information on and make sure they are serviced correctly to stay in working order. The rest of the duties are traditional IT assets that you will need to track over their usage by the University. Duties will include: Shipping, Receiving, Tracking, Assigning, Reporting, and dealing with Surplus equipment.

Position Key Accountabilities:
Carries out assignments provided by the Lead IT Asset Management Administrator on location and status of IT inventory and properly managing the inventory in the central IT inventory tool.2. Administers and manages IT inventory through the use of the central IT inventory management system.3. Updates and administers IT inventory, tracking life cycle of all IT assets; ensures that inventory information is accurate and complete for reconciliation purposes. 4. May require determining, entering and maintaining detail inventory information including vendor information, hardware/registration tag information, software licenses, various institutional forms, encryption, lease, and information on medical/research/scientific equipment. 5. Ensures complete review of IT assets through execution of software commands, which will convey details of the hardware aspects including but not limited to validation of encryption settings, OS, and other university authorized software.6. Receives, deploys, decommissions, and disposes of IT inventory in compliance with university guidelines, policies, and practices; ensures security of assets prior to and post deployment.7. Performs IT inventory asset reviews, including validation of encryption, settings, OS, etc.8. Resolves inventory discrepancies and issues, including tracking the location and status of IT inventory as well as identifying inconsistencies in IT Inventory policies and procedures; makes recommendations for improvements.9. Coordinates asset management of medical equipment with Clinical Technology.10. Other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
A+, MCSE and/or MTA (Microsoft Technology Associate) preferred.
Good communication skills both verbal and written.
Associate’s degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education.
Two (2) years of related experience
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
