Job Summary:
The Construction Manager is a highly experienced and personable leader with strong project management skills, excellent strategic networking skills, capable of understanding and work across all elements of the project from technical, financial to commercial and revenue.
Coordinate and Manage all field operations in conjunction with the Project Manager
Direct the project personnel to ensure project progresses within schedule and budget
Support superintendents and engineers in maintaining production within schedule and budget
Review project plan to develop schedule, job cost, goals, staffing requirements and resources.
Understand Project Documents to include Drawings, Standards, Specifications and Contracts.
Anticipate project needs within schedule and budget
Establish Work Plan for the project
Manage coordination with the project staff to develop and outline work plans, duty assignments, responsibilities and scopes.
Manage status of schedule and modify as required throughout the life of the project. Complete project schedule reports for management, owners and subcontractors.
Lead the project team in regards to the positive safety culture
Provide technical support for the construction team
Review and manage the field operations to ensure project is safe and successful
Requirements:
Bachelors in Civil Engineering or Construction management preferred (not required)
10+ years related construction management experience, to include large alternative delivery projects
Knowledge of Microsoft software, P6 Scheduling, HCSS software
Knowledge of the state specifications and standards (VDOT, MD SHA, DelDOT, NCDOT)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proven ability to perform in a management capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of construction industry best practices required.
Proven experience in directing and managing pre-award and post-award services for design-build projects.
Strong business acumen and understanding of concepts of cost, revenue, and cash flow and able to develop annual budgets.
Residing in or willing to re-locate to Maryland or Northern Virginia
Willingness to travel regionally as needed.
Physical Demands :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to Carry tools and equipment, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and see and hear well (either naturally or with correction), stand; walk, (stand for long periods of time) handle, or feel; use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects. The employee must frequently work or walk on uneven ground and is required to wear steel toed boots at all times. It is mandatory that the employee wear approved personal protective equipment. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Perform a variety of duties while exposed to outside elements or confined spaces. Repeat tasks of short duration according to set procedures and evaluate information using measurable. Follow set procedures and standards.
