Job Title: Programmer – Building Automation Systems

Job Summary: The Building Automation Systems (BAS) Programmer is responsible for the design of building automation systems using company tools and operating protocols.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Program DDC modules to meet exact sequence of operation.

Program and configure integration between multiple vendors using open and proprietary software.

Configure system database for reporting, alarming and monitoring of Building Automation Systems.

Program graphical interface for customer interaction with automation system.

Follow department standards for programming, naming convention, graphics, and data backup needs.

Receive project specifications from the sales team and design building automation system and service installed jobs.

Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost and lead-time limits.

Choose the appropriate mix of products and installation methods to provide the most cost-effective solution for the customer.

Assist in preparing required submittals and schedules subsequent hand-off to operations.

Acts as a technical resource to team and customers as needed.

Participates in initial job site walk through with contractors and/or critical environment facilities such as data centers or hospitals.

May need to create unique design solutions to meet specific customer requirements.

Designs mainly large complex building automation network architecture to support operator workstations, DDC field panels, third-party integration devices connected through LON, Ethernet, ModBus or BACnet.

Generates DDC point database on all projects.

Provides start-up and checkout documentation to the Project Manager and system specialist for use in commissioning and validation.

May assist with preparing information on pre-installation extras or change orders to submit to Project Manager, customer, or general/subcontractor.

Ensures the job folder is organized and maintained including all pertinent job-related information.

Generate aesthetically simple HMI screens for complex machinery while providing sufficient feedback for troubleshooting.

May perform field activities as required.

Participates in department meetings as requested.

Performs additional assignments as requested and maintains a teamwork attitude.

Minimum Qualifications:

4+ years of experience in the HVAC technologies and building controls in the commercial building industry.

Strong knowledge of industry engineering fundamentals and business operations required.

Proficiency in programming, job start-up, checkout, and troubleshooting required.

High School diploma or GED required with requisite field experience or Bachelor of Science in Engineering preferred.

Good communication skills, both verbally and written
