The University of Chicago\'s Department of Pediatrics, Section of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, in the Biological Sciences Division is searching for an associate or full professor to serve as the Section Chief. As a full-time faculty member, the appointee will contribute to patient care, medical education, and scholarship. The Section Chief will lead the Section of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, with the overarching goal of enhancing its clinical and academic excellence. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The appointee will join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners in UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago. A tradition of excellence in patient care, clinical and translational sciences, combined with the strengths of one of the world\'s top academic institutions provides the strong foundation for a career as an academic physician leader.

The Section of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics is dedicated to managing the unique needs of children who present with a wide range of developmental and behavioral conditions. The scope of its clinical service covers ambulatory sites located in Comer Children\'s Hospital and Hyde Park, and a growing number of regional sites.

The Department of Pediatrics is committed to providing superior, compassionate healthcare to all children. We strive to provide an education and training experience that fosters the next generation of national and international leaders in child health. Our department includes more than 150 full-time faculty physicians, scientists and clinical associates. In addition to teaching medical students, residents and fellows, our faculty conduct cutting-edge translational and clinical research with strong supporting core services.

University of Chicago Medicine has been at the forefront of medical care since 1927. Located in historic Hyde Park, the primary medical campus includes the Center for Care and Discovery, Comer Children\'s Hospital, Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital for adult inpatient care, and the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) and a growing health care system across the region.

The appointee will be an accomplished academic pediatrician with a record of scholarly accomplishment in any area of basic, translational, or clinical research including but not limited to health outcomes, clinical trials and health interventions, health economics, population health, and/or informatics. The next Chief will be a program builder with strong administrative, operational, and financial knowledge and collaborative skills. They will be an experienced mentor willing to pursue the strong opportunities for academic and clinical development of the faculty and staff of the Section. Indeed, we anticipate significant growth in the Section\'s academic faculty in the coming years.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a MD or equivalent, 2) have or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be board certified in in Pediatrics, and 4) be board certified in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics or Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, or hold equivalent certification/credentials relevant to developmental pediatrics, such as a Master of Public Health or Master of Health Informatics, or have experience involving developmental/behavioral care coordination for children with special health care needs.
