Controls Technician – Building Automation Systems
Location: Boise, ID
Pay: $28–$37/hr + Full Benefits (DOE)
Immediate opening for an experienced Controls Technician to support commercial building automation systems across the Boise region. This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys troubleshooting, solving complex problems, working directly with customers, and improving facility performance through smart building technologies.

What You’ll Do
As a Controls Technician, you will perform advanced service, troubleshooting, commissioning, and upgrades on commercial building automation systems (BAS).
Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair complex electronic, digital, and networked control systems
Perform preventive maintenance, system commissioning, and software/graphics updates
Provide on‑site customer support, ensuring high satisfaction and clear communication
Assist with job layouts, field sketches, documentation, and as‑built updates
Support sales teams with technical insights and field‑based recommendations
Train customers on system operation and provide ongoing technical guidance
Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and internal teams
Participate in continuous learning to stay current with BAS technologies
Qualifications
Troubleshooting experience (electro‑mechanical systems, HVAC experience highly desirable but will consider applicants with other related technical experience)
Technical degree, vocational program completion, military, or equivalent practical experience
Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, sequences of operation, and technical documentation
Effective communication skills with both technical and non‑technical customers
Strong customer‑service mindset and professional field presence
Military training and practical experience highly desired but not required
