Overview
Verdox, Inc. is dedicated to reversing climate change through the development and deployment of advanced technology. Our proprietary electro-swing process, developed at MIT, enables carbon dioxide and other acid gasses to be captured with up to 80% less energy and 70% less cost than conventional approaches. We are backed by institutional investors and based in Boston.
Verdox seeks to hire a highly motivated Process Design Engineer to support plant design for applications utilizing our electro-swing absorption system.
Key Responsibilities Prepare design basis and engineering packages for pilot plant, demonstration plant, and commercial plant, which include PFDs, P&IDs, and process simulation modeling
Incorporate all elements required for a successful plant build, including utilities requirements, site considerations, environmental permitting, operational considerations, performance requirements, regulatory requirements, and applicable design standards
Apply principles of mass and heat transfer to process and equipment design, including conceptual design, FEED, and detailed engineering
Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, product development, and business development to understand requirements, specifications, and deliver unified view of plant design
Works with engineering consultants to finalize P&IDs, plot plans, electrical one-lines, equipment lists, I&CS, and equipment specs
Perform process hazard and operable analysis (HAZOP), incorporating key safety and environmental risks and mitigations
Partner with finance to continuously update technical economic model (TEM) and align on capital and operational expenses from conceptual design to EPC to commissioning.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering
5-10 years of progressive experience in project design, management, preferable on large capital projects
Working knowledge of process modeling and equipment design, such Aspen HYSYS or the like
Critical thinking and decision-making skills with ability to synthesize inputs and distill issues to recommendation to key stakeholders
Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and with demonstrated interpersonal skills in establishing internal and external working relationships
Start-up attitude - adapting to changing priorities, thriving in small cross-functional teams, and delivering impactful results Experience in chemical, gas, process or refinery plant EPC and commissioning is a plus
