Our solar asset portfolio continues to increase at a near exponential rate, with a mixture of owner developed and constructed sites and third-party sites contracted, or already under management. Position Description
Origis Services, LLC is seeking a Solar Performance Engineer role in Austin, Texas who will report to the Senior Director, Technical Operations. This role will be responsible for managing the day-to-day performance and analytics of operating plants.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily coordination with control room, field personnel, operational team, and other entities to ensure high performance of the solar plants
Perform regular operational and compliance audits and assessments
Perform regular review of the plant events, coordinate with Operational teams to capture all relevant event details, and drive completion of events with appropriate entities
Work closely with CMMS coordinators to maximize reporting capabilities, capture appropriate KPIs, validate quality of inputs, and ensure proper alignment with data capturing software
Verify data quality within data capturing software during on-boarding process for new plants
Monitor operational and generation performance metrics
Continually seek out opportunities to improve operational performance of assets
Apply expertise about potential PV system component failure, potential modeling issues, and site design to troubleshoot current PV systems operating below expected levels of production
Complete performance investigations as requested and pull any data from SCADA and/or DAS as necessary
Timely and efficiently complete high-quality solar performance analysis work.
Completion and delivery of operational energy analysis
Completion and delivery of solar performance analysis and assessments using Power Factors’ Drive and CMMS, SCADA applications, internal tools and process
Preparation, review, validation, and analysis of operational data
Calculation of plant loss, availability and uncertainty quantification
Write/review reports and present results to customers and executives
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience
5+ years performance engineering and/or analytics in the energy industry (preferred) working with 20MW+ plants
Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
Intimate knowledge of solar energy and the ability to stay current with changing technologies, regulations, and trends
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
Strong organizational skills necessary to document and track issues from inception to resolution.
Proven track record of SCADA analysis of discrete event, time series, and plant performance assessment preferred
Database management skills preferred
Ability to read and understand construction drawings, especially electrical, civil, and structural.
Familiarity with CMMS systems preferred
Strong Power BI skills preferred
Familiarity with SQL and Python preferred
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Location Austin, TX
Travel Up to 20% travel required as necessary
