The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

**What You Will Do**

Manager Emergency Services (ED) provides twenty-four (24) hour administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for the planning, operating, staffing, and coordinating of assigned Emergency Services Nursing department to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective patient care.

**Required Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's degree in nursing.

+ 5 years clinical experience in emergency nursing.

+ California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIRED

+ AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

+ ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

+ Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Master's degree in nursing.

+ 2 years leadership experience.

+ Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - Various-Employee provides certificate -PREFERRED

**Essential Functions**

+ Participates in establishing goals, standards, policies, procedures, and protocols for nursing services and assigned areas of responsibility in accordance with the mission of Sharp HealthCare.

+ Maintains quality patient care through the use of clinical expertise and improved nursing practice.

+ Facilitates and resolves issues that affect the quality of service provided to patients and physicians.

+ Supervises staff including hiring, evaluating, coaching, counseling, and assuring that performance appraisals are completed on time. Plans for the efficient and effective use of staff skill sets and workloads.

+ Manages operations in accordance with established standards of practice, policy, and regulatory requirements.

+ Participates in budget development as needed and maintains a budget consistent with hospital goals and objectives.

+ Builds relationships and rounds consistently with management, clinical staff, and other healthcare team members to facilitate program goals and outcomes.

+ Demonstrates strong team building skills and effectively institutes change supporting unit, level of care, and organizational goals.

+ Consistently communicates in a positive and timely manner with staff members, Sharp employees, physicians, patients and visitors.

+ As Stroke Program Champion, responsible for planning, implementing and coordinating stroke services and activities for the hospital in accordance with regulatory requirements and quality benchmarks.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**

+ Expert knowledge of professional nursing practice, including current trends and issues.

+ Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.

+ Evidence of effective supervision and teaching.
