Role Summary
Everest is seeking a business-facing Reinsurance Solution Architect who combines strong insurance domain knowledge with deep, hands-on software engineering and delivery experience. The architect will partner with business and technology stakeholders to shape solutions across Everest's reinsurance application ecosystem, including underwriting, pricing, policy, premium, integration, and data platforms.
This is not a governance-focused role. The successful candidate must understand how solutions are coded, integrated, tested, deployed, operated, and modernized. The architect will remain actively involved in technical design, code and design reviews, delivery execution, troubleshooting, and production readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Engage business stakeholders, product owners, and technology teams to understand reinsurance processes, priorities, and platform requirements.
Translate business objectives into implementable solution designs, integration patterns, technical roadmaps, and delivery plans.
Own the architecture and evolution of applications across the reinsurance technology ecosystem.
Evaluate existing applications and third-party products and recommend appropriate platform, modernization, integration, or retirement strategies.
Provide hands-on architectural guidance throughout design, development, testing, deployment, and production stabilization.
Review code, APIs, data models, cloud configurations, integration designs, and implementation approaches.
Develop prototypes, reference implementations, reusable patterns, or critical technical components when required.
Architect scalable and resilient solutions across application, API, data, security, cloud, and infrastructure layers.
Guide integrations among underwriting, pricing, policy, premium, data warehouse, reporting, and third-party platforms.
Assess cloud readiness and lead the adoption of cloud-native services, containers, APIs, automation, and modern engineering practices.
Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles, security and compliance requirements, integration standards, and operational-resilience needs.
Maintain architecture roadmaps and documentation, including application dependencies, technology versions, third-party components, data flows, and technical debt.
Identify delivery risks, architectural constraints, dependencies, and performance concerns early in the lifecycle.
Lead technical workshops, mentor engineering teams, and promote consistent development and delivery standards.
Communicate solution options, costs, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs clearly to business and technology stakeholders.
Support production troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across applications, APIs, integrations, databases, and cloud environments.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
10+ years of software development experience, including:
3+ years in a Solution Architect, Application Architect, or hands-on Technical Architect role
Significant prior experience as a software engineer or technical lead
Preferably 5+ years in insurance or reinsurance technology
Strong contextual understanding of software coding, engineering, testing, release management, and production support.
Demonstrated ability to take a solution from business requirements through architecture, development, deployment, and production stabilization.
Strong understanding of insurance or reinsurance processes such as underwriting, pricing, premiums, policy administration, treaties, facultative business, claims, or financial reporting.
Hands-on experience with modern application technologies, preferably including:
C#, .NET or .NET Core, ASP.NET Core, and REST APIs
React or comparable modern frontend frameworks
Microsoft Azure or another major cloud platform
SQL, relational databases, and enterprise data integrations
JSON, XML, APIs, messaging, and third-party integrations
CI/CD, automated testing, code-quality controls, and observability
Experience designing scalable, secure, resilient, and cloud-ready enterprise applications.
Strong knowledge of cloud security, networking, compliance, availability, and operational-support considerations.
Ability to review code and constructively challenge design and implementation decisions.
Strong analytical, facilitation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with reinsurance or insurance platforms such as SICS, WINS, Xuber, underwriting workbenches, or pricing applications.
Experience modernizing legacy applications and migrating workloads to cloud-native architectures.
Familiarity with Azure Kubernetes Service, Docker, microservices, event-driven architecture, and infrastructure as code.
Experience with insurance data models, data migration, data warehousing, ETL, analytics, data lineage, and data-quality controls.
Understanding of Commercial Lines insurance products, including Liability, Workers' Compensation, and Commercial Auto.
Experience managing software versions, open-source components, third-party tools, and technology obsolescence.
Guidewire Cloud, Azure, AWS, or GCP architecture certification.
Experience guiding globally distributed onsite-offshore teams and multiple delivery partners.
Familiarity with AI-enabled development practices and tools such as GitHub Copilot.
