Job Description:

The part-time tour leader position in the Communities of Intercultural Learning (CoIL) Boston Study Tour program at BHCC promotes discovery and fun in this unique academic program. A tour leader is responsible for leading groups on tours in the city. Tasks associated with this position includes:

Escort international student groups to their scheduled tour destinations in Charlestown and Boston promptly and safely.

Interact with the students throughout the assignment.

Promote safety in all guided excursions. This involves obeying all traffic signals when crossing streets, staying behind the yellow line on all MBTA platforms, knowing your tour route so that you can confidently lead the group to its intended destination.

Be confident and engaging when speaking in large group settings to captivate attention during tours..

Foster a friendly and respectful atmosphere, building rapport with the students.

Demonstrate genuine interest in both learning from students and sharing knowledge about the sites you pass or visit.

Report any incidences in a timely fashion to the CoIL Boston Study Tour officer by phone, if warranted.

Receive training from the CoIL Boston Study Tour officer on your tour assignments.

Ensure attentiveness to the group as you guide them to the destination.

Dismiss the group properly when the tour ends.

Requirements:

Minimum of a High School Diploma.

Comfortable speaking in front of groups, with confidence and clarity.

Possess the ability to project one's voice effectively to capture the group's attention.

Dependable: Arrives punctually or ahead of schedule, demonstrating proficient time management skills.

Safety minded.

Approachable and customer-focused.

Possess a pleasant demeanor and engaging personality..

Capable of utilizing basic technology, including accessing training through online meeting links, having internet connectivity, and having a mobile phone readily available.

Additional Information:

Tour leaders are expected to attend training to learn how to lead tours in a safe and effective manner.

Tour leaders will be required when multiple groups participate in the CoIL Boston program concurrently.

Hourly rate: $25.00/hr
