Teslas Silicon Development Group is looking for a Power Electronics Engineer. In the position, you will work on solutions to deliver more power into smaller space than ever before, from power supply module design to power delivery performance validation, on Teslas Autopilot AI system. You will also drive state-of-the-art power module design/validation workflow development, including designing electronic circuits, design simulation/analysis, electronic parts and ICs, and prototype bringup/validation to meet the performance target. We need an engineer who is excited to solve the most challenging low-voltage power related problems to deliver the highest quality AI system in the world.
**Responsibilities**
* Engage with suppliers on power supply unit design, from power supply PCB/module pre-layout simulation, DC/AC power noise mitigation to PCB layout optimization.
* Create, define, and execute complex power supply unit validation test plans.
* Lead the prototype bringup and debugging on power supply unit related issues, including power rail ripple reduction, noise coupling mitigation and reliability.
* Design and bring up tester/eval boards for power supply units.
* Design and implement automated test flows for volume-production power supply unit.
* Develop firmware and software tools to enable the test system.
* Own the design documentation and validation test reports.
**Requirements**
* 4+ year experience in low-voltage power electronics design, power supply IC/module application and validation.
* Solid knowledge in switching mode power supply principles.
* Strong electrical engineering fundamentals in electronic circuit design and PCB design.
* Experience in power supply new silicon/module prototype bring up and performance validation.
* Outstanding hands-on lab experience and excellent problem-solving skills in power supply IC/module debugging.
* Experience with defining or implementing firmware/software tool to enable the power system test and automation.
* Solid understanding of power supply noise and its impact on SerDes/memory performance.
* Experience on signal integrity test and SoC validation is a plus.
* Strong communication and documentation skills.
* Proven ability to work independently under high pressure and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
