Overview
As Senior Director of Operations, you are responsible for leading the company's efforts to build and maintain the IKE smart city platform and our large-format network across the US. Your team's success will be measured by a combination of factors including the schedule and cost of delivery of our new projects and the uptime and maintenance costs of our existing assets. You are responsible for contracting strategy, project execution, personnel management, department processes and tools, and managing our contractor and vendor partnerships.
What You'll Do
Develop and standardize our strategy and processes to maximize predictability and minimize deployment cost and time.
Manage the day-to-day activities of project managers and engineers to deploy IKE smart city kiosks and large format signage including engineering, permitting, utility coordination, equipment delivery, construction, start-up, and maintenance.
Work closely with our real estate development team to ensure that host cities commit to resources and allowances that ensure success during the deployment phase.
Manage partnerships with host-city entities and property owners during the construction phase to allow project success while considering local processes, requirements, and restrictions.
Manage relationships with external construction partners including civil engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, consultants, material and equipment suppliers, and other project partners.
Determine when and where to use project partners, design and build partners, or individual firms and contractors.
Lead in ensuring we have a competitive contractor bid process that ensures quality, speed of delivery, and cost-effectiveness.
Organize, build, and manage internal deployment organization ensuring performance and growth of deployment team members.
Be onsite and hands-on as required.
Serve on the Leadership team, helping to guide overall strategy.
About You A seasoned leader with at least 10 years of experience in the construction industry managing projects and direct reports.
Experience with high-volume projects in the right of way and/or complex structural and electrical construction is preferred.
Strong capabilities in leading contract review and negotiation for engineering, material supply, and construction contracts.
Hands-on leader who can think and act strategically, shaping an organization, while also able to provide technical guidance to our project teams.
Proven experience accomplishing results by leading direct reports, contracted personnel, and partner organizations.
A "been there done that" construction professional who understands traditional approaches to managing engineers, contractors, suppliers, consultants, and government bureaucracies but also has the drive and skill to innovate and find solutions that reduce overall cost and scope.
History of collaboration with project owners, municipalities, and utility companies on new initiatives, accounting for the aesthetics of the project as well as the speed of delivery.
Bachelor's degree in engineering is strongly preferred.
Ability to travel in the US as needed.
