Technology Designer

HotFoot Recruiters is partnered with a well-established consulting engineering firm to hire a Technology Designer in Phoenix, Arizona. This role is responsible for the design and coordination of technology systems supporting complex commercial, institutional, mission-critical, and advanced technology facilities. The ideal candidate will work closely with engineering, architectural, and project management teams to develop integrated technology solutions including structured cabling, security, access control, surveillance, telecommunications, and building control systems.

Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Hours: 730AM - 530PM (9-hour days Mon-Thurs & Half Day Friday)

Pay: $70,000 - $85,000 DOE - overtime eligible

Responsibilities:

Design and document technology systems including structured cabling, security systems, access control, surveillance (CCTV), audio/visual, and telecommunications infrastructure.

Coordinate with MEP, architectural, and project management teams to ensure technology systems align with overall building design and client expectations.

Support the development of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Facility Monitoring and Control Systems (FMCS), and other integrated control systems.

Assist in preparing drawings, specifications, riser diagrams, and device layout plans using AutoCAD and/or Revit.

Conduct site visits and field coordination when necessary to validate design intent and implementation.

Stay up to date with evolving technologies, codes, and best practices for commercial building systems.

Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in designing diverse technology systems design for commercial or institutional buildings.

Familiarity with design and implementation of structured cabling, data networks, security systems, and A/V systems.

Working knowledge of SCADA, FMCS, or other building controls systems is strongly preferred.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Understanding of applicable codes and standards (e.g., BICSI, NEC, TIA/EIA).

Strong communication skills with the ability to work across design disciplines.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Technology Design, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.

Additional engineering background in MEP is a HUGE PLUS.
