Title: Senior Backend Software Engineer - Java AI

Location: Phoenix, AZ (Onsite)

Duration: 6 months

Pay Range: $40 - $45/Hour on W2/C2C (All inclusive)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Design, develop and maintain secure, scalable and reliable backend services for Digital Banking platforms.

• Build Java microservices, REST APIs, batch jobs and event-driven workflows using modern engineering patterns.

• Lead distributed-system design covering scalability, latency, throughput, fault tolerance, consistency and recovery.

• Implement Kafka/event-driven integration and workflow-orchestration patterns.

• Ensure services are testable, observable, maintainable, safely extensible and aligned to production SLAs.

• Drive code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, secure coding and operational readiness across the SDLC.

• Participate actively in architecture, design and code reviews while remaining hands-on with development.

• Partner with product, architecture, operations and business stakeholders to translate capabilities into pragmatic technical solutions.

• Mentor engineers, resolve complex technical problems and raise engineering standards across the team.

• Where applicable, integrate GenAI capabilities responsibly into enterprise applications with appropriate security, guardrails and governance"

Skill Required :

"Core Backend Engineering

• 8+ years software development with strong hands-on Java; Java 17+ preferred.

• Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, REST APIs, JSON/XML, JDBC, JPA/Hibernate.

• Strong microservices and distributed-systems design: service decomposition, asynchronous communication, fault tolerance, idempotency, backpressure, consistency trade-offs and graceful degradation.

• Kafka or similar event-streaming technology; Kafka Streams highly desirable.

• High availability, low-latency services, multithreading/concurrency, caching and performance analysis.

• PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis or comparable relational/NoSQL/in-memory platforms.

• JUnit, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Git/GitHub/GitLab, CI/CD, automated/repeatable testing and secure coding.

• Docker, Kubernetes/container platforms, observability and production-readiness practices.

• Strong API-first architecture, service contracts, integration patterns and API lifecycle practices.

• Banking/payments, real-time transaction platforms, customer/account management or fintech API experience strongly preferred.

• Hands-on technical leadership: architecture/design reviews, code reviews, mentoring and cross-team engineering influence.

Big Plus - GenAI / Cloud / Governance

• LLM applications, prompt engineering, structured outputs, tool/function calling and MCP concepts.

• RAG: ingestion, chunking, embeddings, vector search, reranking, relevance tuning and semantic search.

• AI guardrails/evaluation, hallucination mitigation, PII handling, prompt-injection and data-leakage controls.

• AWS EC2, RDS, S3 and SQS; cloud-native architecture and DevOps practices. • Data governance, secure data access, shared schemas, auditability, compliance controls and risk-aware engineering."
