Founded in 1909 and affiliated with the Episcopal Church, The Bishop's School is an independent, all gender college-preparatory school for 800 students in grades six through twelve located on a historic campus in the heart of La Jolla, just 10 miles north of downtown San Diego. With a student-teacher ratio of approximately 9 to 1, Bishop's is known for academic, artistic, and athletic excellence while celebrating character development, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Annualized Compensation: $90,000 - $99,000

Summary Description

The Alumni Philanthropy Officer reports to the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising initiatives to increase alumni philanthropic support and participation for a network of departmental programs, including but not excluded to class reunions, regional and possible international alumni chapters, and affinity programs. This role involves identifying class reunion prospects for lead gifts, and developing class reunion giving goals, implementing multi-year reunion class giving programs, identifying and soliciting regional alumni, coordinating regional events, visits and fundraising programs, creating fundraising marketing initiatives, analyzing engagement data, and managing a portfolio of 100 - 120 local and regional alumni constituents. The individual will be required to proactively collaborate and foster relationships with a myriad of constituencies across the Bishop's community and its affiliates.

Essential Functions and Specific Duties

Develop, execute, and maintain fundraising initiatives to increase alumni philanthropic support and participation and for alumni engagement programming.

Proactively and continuously collaborate with department giving teams, class agents and regional representatives.

Identify and foster alumni class representatives to serve as giving ambassadors for annual class reunions.

Determine class goals and repeatedly implement multi-year reunion class giving programs.

Create and implement challenge/match giving opportunities to encourage participation.

Actively manage existing regional alumni chapters and identity and establish new regional programs.

Identify, cultivate and solicit regional alumni ambassadors to assist with regional giving and engagement programs.

Coordinate and manage regional programming and visits to chapters and engage alumni.

Develop and manage the alumni component of The Bishop's Fund Annual October Calling Campaign and other initiatives as needed.

Manage a portfolio of 100-120 alumni constituents to increase their philanthropic and participation and engagement with the School.

Conduct prospect discovery to identify and solicit individual donations.

Develop and execute fundraising marketing plans for regional, reunion and the October Calling Campaign alumni giving programs.

Utilize various communication channels to promote fundraising initiatives and engage alumni.

Continuously track and analyze reunion and regional engagement data to measure progress and inform strategy adjustments.

Ability to frequently travel locally, nationally, and internationally.

Other duties as assigned.

An Ideal Candidate Will Have: Bachelor's degree is required; advanced degree preferred.

A minimum of 3-5 years of fundraising and program development.

Experience in class reunion, regional giving programs and campaigns is preferred.

Progressive record of achievement with individual solicitations highly desired.

Experience with donor data systems (Raiser's Edge, etc.) and online fundraising tools.

Proactive self-starter with a strong results orientation.

Highly motivated and well-organized with a progressive record of achievement.

Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Local, national, and international travel is required (30-50%)

Ability to work evenings and weekends for events and programs.
