Position Description:
Our client is a Houston based company founded by an ambitious entrepreneur with a broad portfolio of investment projects ranging from property management to home flips to land development and commercial development. With opportunities and execution higher than ever, our Client is looking to add key talent to this growing business.
This Company is seeking an executive minded Chief of Staff to own the day to day operational execution of this portfolio of businesses. This is a full time position offering a competitive compensation structure and project milestone incentives. Position Objective:
The Chief of Staff is the right hand to the Owner but works very closely with several members of the team as well as external partners. This position serves a vital role in the company’s success by executing the owner’s vision within each project.
A successful candidate has 5+ years of experience working in an operational capacity within investment real estate. This individual is a driver, problem solver, and entrepreneur at heart. This individual must operate with a customer service mentality, remain poised in dealing with external partners and be capable of balancing multiple tasks and ever-changing priorities. Most importantly, this individual has a willingness to hold the Company core values to the highest standard. This team operates their business on the foundation of Honesty, Relentlessness, and Intelligence.
Responsibilities:
Be the right-hand to the owner.
As Chief of Staff, you’ll work closely with the owner to execute the core functions of a CEO position. You’ll have full visibility into the mechanics of running a company. On a given day, you’ll discuss the company’s most pressing challenges, help the owner prepare for a presentation or sales pitch, dive into a spreadsheet, follow-up on tasks, and prepare for the weekly team meeting.
Your work will span across multiple categories:
Execution: You’re hyper-organized and get it done. You’re obsessive with crossing things off your to-do list and don’t let action items fall through the cracks. You’ll be responsible for delegating tasks and taking care of others yourself.
Communications: We’re an investment company and work with many different investors as well. You will serve as the first line communicator with all parties the company interacts with daily. You’ll work with the owner to get his thoughts onto paper or into slides and improve them. Together, you’ll develop decision-making frameworks to scale his thinking and clarify his vision
Special Projects: Though the owner has high determination, he is a visionary and changes direction quickly and regularly. The drive behind those visions equal random revenue generating projects and you’ll need to be able to keep up.
Driving the Team: You’ll be the rock and foundation for our team. A stabilizer to keep us on track and moving in the right direction. You’ll lead our weekly team meetings and keep us tracked towards our short-term tasks and long-term goals.
Training, Skills, Knowledge and/or Experience:
Bachelors degree or equivalent, relevant work experience
5+ years of experience working in investment Real Estate.
Extreme eye for detail in proofing and preparing documents.
Ability to multi-task and independently prioritize.
Master of time management
Flexibility in switching priorities
Naturally curious and analytical
Thrive in a culture of directness with honest feedback that comes from a place of friendliness
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills – written, verbal, in person and over the phone.
Ability to maintain self-motivation in a remote working environment.
Valid Texas Driver’s License, required
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
Remote working environment
Ability to drive to project properties in the Houston metro and surrounding areas
Extended periods of time working on a computer and over the phone
