OVERVIEW :

Skillsoft is currently looking to hire a fulltime, permanent, Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to join our growing team. Azure Cloud Engineers take the Azure Cloud Architect’s solution vision and turn it into a reality. Azure Cloud Engineers work closely with the Azure Cloud Architects and the Cloud Operations team to deliver end-to-end operating environments to our customers.

The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in implementing, enhancing, deploying and operating enterprise platform utilizing a broad range of Azure capabilities. This position requires a strong cloud engineering background with progressive experience creating solutions within both on-premises, cloud and cloud-native environments. Candidate will work in the hybrid platform and should understand datacenter concepts and best practices, high-availability systems, capacity planning, system performance evaluation, and diagnostic techniques and methodologies in order to integrate solutions into customer environments.

OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS:

Design, drive, implement and evolve key capabilities, scenarios, and features in Azure

Work with development and operations teams to identify and implement the most optimal Azure-based solutions for the company

Participate in all aspects of the cloud development life cycle for Azure solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance

Help monitor Azure cloud-based systems for availability, performance, reliability, security

Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design

Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix, and document problems, and implement preventive measures

Providing training and/or facilitating workshops on continuous cloud adoption; promoting how cloud services fits within DevOps culture, organization and roles

Build Operational Support Model through clear and concise Standard Operating Procedures and strong knowledge transfer

Maintain standards and procedures that meet operational, regulatory, and company policies

Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Work closely with various internal teams and auditors to generate timely audit reports

Apply a consistently positive, problem-solving attitude and demonstrate a curious mindset

Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members

Support the development of operational excellence via process, technology, and people development

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

You have a bachelor’s degree in computers science or Engineering, at least 8+ years of experience in a similar position within the IT industry

6+ years of progressive implementation experience in implementation and management of distributed applications and infrastructure

4+ years of experience in leveraging Azure in enterprise environments utilizing security, compute, network, storage, API management, databases, backup, automation, monitoring, as well as other Azure IaaS and PaaS services and capabilities

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Bicep, Azure ARM templates

Experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) using GitHub and GitHub Actions is preferred.

Configuration management using Ansible and Powershell DSC

Proficient in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, Bash to automate common tasks

Familiarity with container orchestration services, i.e., Kubernetes

Problem-solving and analytical abilities including the ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details and apply sound business knowledge

Expertise in documenting requirements, establishing scope and objectives, and determining the strategy for implementing systems to achieve business goals

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Ability to multi-task and work independently, as well as work collaboratively with teams, some of which may be geographically distributed

Experience using an Agile methodology is desired

Certifications: AZ-305 is preferred
