VP of Operations

Our company has been providing local restaurants with the finest ingredients available since 1915. Located in Philadelphia, we are a family-owned food wholesale distribution company. In the past several years we have experienced tremendous growth and we are currently looking to add to our team. We are seeking a strong leader to join as our Vice President of Operations. We recognize that a quality team is vital to support our quality products and services. The VP of Operations position will develop and lead all facets of the Transportation and Warehouse departments for Julius Silvert, a specialty food wholesale distribution company. The candidate must be detail-oriented, systematic, well-organized, polished, and a high-energy team player.
Responsibilities:
Train, develop, lead, and stretch warehouse/transportation leadership to reach maximum abilities.
Identify and implement new processes, technologies/systems to improve or streamline current processes and use of resources
Establish, implement, and communicate the strategic direction of both transportation and warehouse departments
Present performance reports and metrics to leadership/ownership team
Identifies training needs to ensure proper training is developed and provided
Recruit, interview, and train management level staff including yearly reviews
Develop a succession plan for the Operations Department
Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
5+ years’ experience with food and beverage operations leadership
2-3+ years’ experience in a Director or VP position (food industry preferred*)
Strong knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations
Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Tools
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with constant changes
Ability to multi-task many activities, projects, and timelines
Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
Strong oral and written communication skills
Must be able to communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization including ownership
Self-starter with the ability to set priorities and goals and work to accomplish the goals
Strong negotiation skills
