An ideal candidate is a self-starter who is willing to learn how to defend cases effectively and efficiently on behalf of Employer and Insurance Carrier clients at the Workers' Compensation Appeals Boards statewide. Candidates are not required to have experience in workers' compensation law, and those with experience are welcome to apply. We are seeking individuals willing to learn or have experience in handing litigation caseloads from case origin to conclusion. Typical job duties will include court appearances (either remote or in person as required), handling depositions, communicating with clients throughout the litigation process, creating and maintaining litigation plans of action, settling claims, and advocating for clients throughout the litigation process.
Responsibilities
Day to day management of caseload with supervision by Shareholder Attorney
Development of litigation plan at case referral/inception
Handling depositions of injured workers, doctors, and other witnesses
Document review of medical records and claim records.
Appearing either telephonically or in person at the Workers' Compensation Appeals boards throughout California (as necessary).
Qualifications
California State Bar license to practice law.
No experience in workers' compensation required (experienced attorneys also welcomed to apply)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong basic legal knowledge
Ability to work remotely (or in person if within vicinity of one of our statewide offices)
