Position description

Faculty Position

Institute for Human Genetics

University of California, San Francisco

The UCSF Institute for Human Genetics invites applications for multiple faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in the ladder rank or in-residence series. Applicants with varied backgrounds in genetics and genomics will be considered, including those with expertise and interest in disease diagnosis and therapeutics, functional genomics, statistical genetics, and human population genetics. Candidates are expected to have demonstrated significant research accomplishment and potential, foster equity and inclusion in human genetics, and be committed to the mentorship of learners. Modern laboratory and/or computational space within the Institute for Human Genetics and a generous start-up package will be available.

The UCSF Institute for Human Genetics serves as a focal point for campus-wide activities in human genetics and has outstanding faculty members engaged in human genetics research spanning the four schools: Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Dentistry. The major aim of the Institute is to create an exciting, productive, and collaborative environment for research, training, and clinical application in human genetics, and to provide institutional support and resources, such as the Genomics Core Facilities, for faculty research and for teaching in a number of UCSF graduate and medical school programs.

Candidates must have a doctoral degree (M.D. or equivalent and/or Ph.D.) and postdoctoral research experience completed in an area associated with human genetics. The new faculty member will be expected to teach in graduate programs affiliated with the Institute for Human Genetics (see https://graduate.ucsf.edu/list-programs) and to establish an independent research program that will attract and maintain extramural funding.

Applications must be submitted online and include the following documents: (1) cover letter; (2) curriculum vitae; (3) a statement of contributions to equity, diversity, and inclusion with particular attention to formal and informal mentoring activities. Applicants are also requested to submit a 1-page summary of research accomplishments and 2-page description of future research plans.

Please apply online at https://aprecruit.ucsf.edu/JPF04729. Applicants' materials must list current and/or pending qualifications upon submission. The selected candidate(s) will be appointed in an academic department, dependent upon their area of expertise.
