The Amazon Corporate Security (ACS) team is searching for an Investigator for its Prototype Security team who is able to develop, implement and lead security projects and programs to support Amazon's prototype device teams.

This position will provide security investigation support to all Amazon consumer electronic devices prior to release to the general public and support the overall prototype investigations posture for the Amazon Devices & Services Organization.

The Amazon Devices Organization designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics, including the best-selling Kindle family of products as well as devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, Amazon Astro, and Amazon Echo.

This role will have a global reach and focus to ensure consistent prototype security investigations are provided and executed to all prototypes reported as lost or misplaced.

In this position, the Prototype Security Investigator will have regular engagement with all product lines of business to create and foster an engagement model to ensure security has a seat at the table with all Amazon Devices & Services Organization product lines.

To be successful in this position, the Prototype Security Investigator must have the ability to understand the Amazon prototype development process, build strong relationships with key business teams, independently identify process failures, and provide suggested risk mitigation solutions. This role will have a region-wide reach and focus to ensure consistent prototype security investigations are provided and executed to all prototypes reported as lost or misplaced with a given geographical region.

This position will report to the Amazon Corporate Security, Prototype Security Investigations Manager.

Key job responsibilities

• Respond to customer inquiries via email, SIM tickets, and Slack messages promptly to address lost prototypes and device returns.

• Perform case triaging to prioritize and manage investigation cases effectively.

• Handle allowlisting, blocklisting, pushing public Over-The-Air (OTA) Software (SW), and removing devices from tracking requirements as part of security measures.

• You will conduct initial evidence gathering and outreach for investigative cases and collaborate with senior investigators.

• Resolve SIM ticket issues.

• You will support the analysis of findings to identify root causes and vulnerabilities, and document disposition in the case management tool.

• You will conduct monthly casework associated with noncompliance cases.

• You will conduct security risk and vulnerability assessments to design mitigation strategies for identified vulnerabilities to reduce further loss of devices and intellectual property.

• Assist in writing reports to evaluate and analyze metrics collected, supporting risk-based prioritization of recommended solutions.

• You will contribute to the development of security education materials.

About the team

The Prototype Security Investigations team (PSI) aims to mitigate unauthorized intellectual property (IP) disclosure, prototype device loss and theft, and non-compliance with the Acceptable Use Policy. We reduce risk to Amazon IP, make informed decisions to decrease intellectual property loss, and support regulatory requirements. We identify process gaps and failures and use risk-based prioritization to address issues that pose the highest risk to Amazon’s intellectual property.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Domestic and international travel may be required (10-20% of time).

• 1+ years of experience in conducting security, fraud, or insider threat investigations in the capacity to evaluate evidence, identify patterns, and draw logical conclusions to solve complex problems.

• 1+ years of experience using a case management system and data analysis software to investigate system failures, uncover root causes, and driving resolution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification.

• Investigations-related professional certification.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Naturally curious and tenacious to dive deep into issues for problem-solving.

• Effective written and oral communication skills.

• Basic understanding of statistics and data analysis.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $48,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $93,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
