Strategic Partnerships Manager

Overview :

The City of Boston Office of Youth Engagement & Advancement is seeking a Strategic Partnerships Manager to manage and coordinate the day-to-day outreach, communications, and engagement strategies and functions of the department. Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Office of Youth Engagement & Advancement, the Strategic Partnerships Manager will be responsible for overseeing the coordination and implementation of a strategy to develop and maintain partnerships with a diverse range of internal and external partners. The position is designed for a motivated individual with strong communication, organization, and research skills and a passion for building internal and external relationships. Additionally, strong interest/experience with high-level use of civic technology and public relations efforts. This role will be responsible for engaging youth constituents and connecting them to programs, resources, and opportunities and coordinating all outreach and engagement public relations projects & materials to accomplish the goals of the department.

Responsibilities :

The Strategic Partnerships Manager reports directly to the Executive Director of the Office. Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Co-manages the day-to-day operations of OYEA programs.

Manages the Constituent Services process, leading team meetings and serving as a support and resource to the team.

Manages the intake form process, ensuring that constituents are being responded to in a timely manner.

Meets weekly with the Executive Director to discuss challenges and opportunities with the team.

Develops a partnership framework to improve overall OYEA partner relationships, including regular communication, outreach, and recruitment.

Fosters cross-team collaboration to increase alignment and coordination around how the Office interacts with the following partner types: Philanthropic/funding partners, institutional/research-based partners, non-profit partners, and government agencies.

Oversees focus groups and service activities and completes an Office partnership audit. Supports OYEA with citywide visits to potential partner sites, recruitment and onboarding process for partners, and helps raise awareness of the Office.

Maintains and deepens relationships with non-profit organizations and city departments by providing support, exceptional communication, and training for youth programs and partnerships.

Works with the City of Boston's IGR department to develop and manage relationships between city and state/federal partners.

Supervises college-age intern staff.

Serves as OYEA's LCA liaison.

Provides oversight and ensures effective resolutions or referrals of constituent requests on a variety of issues, e.g., employment, education, civic engagement, housing, health, social and emotional well-being, etc.

Works with leadership to recruit youth for the Mayor's Youth Council, employment opportunities, and staffing needs.

Collaborates with city departments, other government agencies, and non-profit service providers to ensure the perspective and needs of youth are considered in various projects, programs, or initiatives.

As needed, supports and participates in general youth engagement and employment activities, events, and special projects.

Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications :

Applicant must have at least three (3) to four (4) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience working with youth in an administrative capacity required. Some supervisory experience is required.

A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university strongly is preferred and may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. A masters degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience.

Professional experience with partner development and support.

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and social media is required. Proficiency with Google Suite.

Good mediation, facilitation, and listening skills are required.

Good oral and written English skills required. Computer coding and website design experience preferred. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining attention to detail required.

Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.

Familiarity with Boston youth service providers is preferred.

Previous training and facilitation skills preferred. Considerable internet research skills preferred. Strong writing, editing and word processing skills are preferred.

Ability to work some evenings and weekends required.

Bilingual preferred (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, Chinese, and Vietnamese).
