Senior Platform Engineer
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will contribute to stability, security, observability, automation, and the ongoing evolution of systems architecture that enables business-critical features for clients across the business aviation industry. Your work will play a critical role in the productivity and satisfaction of our product teams, by ensuring their ability to develop, test, and deploy code.
This is a remote position.
Senior Platform Engineer Responsibilities
Serve as a tech lead for a US-based platform automation team.
Work closely with your team to define, evaluate feasibility for, scope, and deliver desired outcomes for the ongoing evolution of our infrastructure.
Partner with US and Sweden-based platform engineers, systems architects, and other tech leads on common concerns related to system security, observability, uptime, and performance.
Maintain the Jenkins and PowerShell automation that provisions our development, testing, staging, and production environments, upscales production resources, and deploys code to production.
Write maintainable, testable infrastructure-as-code using PowerShell and Pester according to established best practices.
Lead the team’s efforts to modernize its provisioning architecture, replacing Jenkins with Github Actions, creating pipelines for testing and deployment of microservices, and improving infrastructure availability.
Mentor other platform engineers, as well software engineers transitioning existing monolith services to microservices.
Senior Platform Engineer Qualifications
You have 7 + years of experience with infrastructure-as-code while working as a software engineer, site reliability engineer, or architect.
You have experience designing and implementing cloud infrastructure for web applications and microservices, using tools such as virtual networks, virtual machines, containers, functions, queues, and storage. We deploy our existing infrastructure to Azure.
You have experience with PowerShell, Pester, and Jenkins. New Relic and Github Actions experience are a plus.
You can break large development tasks into small, testable pieces.
You have experience with source control and bug tracking software. We used Git and Jira.
You can work effectively with and maintain the deployment pipeline for a distributed team that is responsible for the continuous delivery of web-based applications built using the .Net Framework.
You know your way around agile, lean/continuous software development, and Kanban.
You are an independent self-starter who isn’t afraid to ask questions.
You communicate well. With colleagues in multiple time zones and multiple countries, this position requires strong written and verbal communication skills.
Salary: $140-150K/year (DOE)
