We are currently seeking a Senior Compensation Specialist for one of our clients in the Oak Brook, IL area. As a Senior Compensation Specialist, you will spearhead the development, implementation, and management of our comprehensive compensation strategy. Your role is pivotal in ensuring that our total rewards programs are designed to attract, motivate, and retain top talent, thereby supporting our company’s ongoing growth and success. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, leveraging data-driven insights to create innovative, cost-effective, and market-competitive compensation programs. Additionally, you will enhance the employee experience through clear communication and effective program execution.
Core Duties:
Oversee the annual compensation process, including salary planning, merit increases, salary adjustments, internal equity reviews, incentive grants, and promotions. Provide expert guidance on setting pay grades, FLSA status, salary structure ranges, and position leveling.
Develop and implement effective communication strategies and training programs related to compensation. Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for executives, managers, and HR professionals.
Partner with HR and business leaders to define, develop, and execute a competitive compensation strategy, including salary structures, paid time off programs, and other reward and recognition initiatives.
Ensure robust processes, controls, compliance reviews, and audits are in place and completed successfully. Perform FLSA audits to ensure proper classification of positions in compliance with federal regulations.
Establish and maintain dashboards and reporting mechanisms to measure key compensation data. Analyze data to validate the effectiveness of total rewards programs and identify trends. Prepare and manage compensation program documentation
Develop and implement effective communication strategies and training programs related to compensation. Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for executives, managers, and HR professionals.
What we’re looking for:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in compensation roles, demonstrating career progression and practical experience in a high-growth, multi-state environment.
Experience in the transportation industry is a plus.
Solid understanding of state and federal wage and hour laws, including FLSA and pay equity reporting.
Experience with HRIS compensation modules (Workday preferred).
Advanced Excel and reporting skills. Proven ability to develop, manage, and evaluate various components of incentive plans.
CCP, CEBS, CEP, and/or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) certification preferred.
Experience with companies having over 1000 employees across the US is preferred. US compensation experience is required;
Canadian experience is a plus.
