Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $53,222. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
Role Overview:
The School and Community Nutrition Auditor is the primary contact for sponsoring organizations with financial questions about the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Child Nutrition Programs in Indiana. You will ensure audit and financial compliance for School and Community Nutrition (SCN) Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Sponsors.
Key outcomes for this role include:
+ Monitor sponsor compliance with applicable federal audit regulations and maintain records of audit compliance.
+ Assist sponsors with completing required financial documents for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
+ Assist sponsors and organizations with financial management questions related to their operations.
+ Assist agency staff with program reviews of sponsors, sponsor approval, renewal, and training.
+ Help agency staff interpret financial statements from organizations and approve sponsor budgets and financial statements.
+ Participate in special projects.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
+ Travel to and conduct audit procedures and tests of governmental units’ financial statements on annual schedule.
+ Prepare reports presenting audit findings for submission to supervisor and agency.
+ Communicate with staff of governmental unit under audit concerning issues such as procedures, technical interpretations, and results of audit.
+ Track approvals for requisitions within assigned funds and grant funds.
+ Track approved request modifications to purchase orders to relieve encumbrances/pre-encumbrances in funds.
+ Create annual spending plan, biennial budget request and biweekly year-end forecasting.
+ Provide a fiscal/programmatic review of all contracts initiated, amended, or extended within funds.
+ Provide assistance to vendor inquiries with assistance from other fiscal staff.
+ Perform related duties as assigned.

What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
+ Knowledge of basic principles of accounting such as the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) typically attained by baccalaureate degree in accounting or finance.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, facility personnel, and persons from various levels of government and management.
+ Knowledge of and ability to research Indiana Code relevant to job duties.
+ Travel is required to facilities and locations being audited. All travel will be within driving distance within the state of Indiana. Overnight stays will be required periodically.
+ Effective utilization of computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
+ Dependability, attention to detail, good time management and multi-tasking skills.
+ Flexibility and adaptability to respond quickly to issues and needs.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
+ Ability to accurately review, track and analyze financial data.
+ Ability to understand and write reports, data collection and reporting procedures.
+ Ability to analyze and interpret information pertaining to fiscal accounts, grants, records and financial reports.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
