We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Senior Systems Administrator to join our information technology and security team to utilize the latest technology to support and optimize services to our business and end users. The Senior Systems Administrator will provide technical leadership across organizational critical infrastructure platforms and network systems to ensure reliable and secure provision of services. The role works across several areas of the business and supports both internal business and customer platforms. The Senior Systems Administrator will also improve and enhance our existing processes, contribute to group discussions, and devise creative ideas for solving problems. The Systems Administrator should be familiar with the latest concepts and technologies of the field and should have in-depth knowledge of infrastructure, networking, and hardware.
The System Administration Team will work together as part of a cross-functional team, undertaking the following high-level responsibilities professionally. Job Description:
Core Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
Alert management to emerging risks, incidents, and issues in infrastructure and network systems including data centers and cloud environments
Formulate and update standard operating procedures (SOP) protocols and documentations
Perform and manage consistent and planned system governance and audits
Assist with and contribute to overall IT and cloud strategy
Acquisition & Deployment
Participate in and administer the selection and acquisition of tools, technologies, and strategies
Operational Management
Support design, implementation, configuration, migration, and management of several platforms including servers and storage, virtualization, cloud platforms, servers (Windows, Linux), databases, R&D systems, Backup and DR, and security platforms
Oversee all enterprise network infrastructure, including all WAN, LAN, wireless, Cloud, and data center networking
Maintain network and systems security controls, including encryption and authentication standards, access controls, anti-malware services, and updating critical services and equipment with recent and secure versions of software
Manage Microsoft and VMWare based virtualization infrastructure, including management of compute / storage / networking resources, high availability configurations such as fail-over, clustering, and server provisioning
Manage physical data center and cloud resources, including servers, chassis, load balancers, cabling, and network equipment including recommendations for new or enhanced systems, services, and technologies throughout the company
Maintain other critical infrastructure services, including active directory services, DNS, file services, and backups
Maintain corporate communications infrastructure for services such as email, telephony and video conferencing, servers and associated hardware, applications, services, and settings
Implement, manage, and perform disaster recovery (DR), back-up, and DR rehearsals
Provide analysis and root cause resolution of network and system infrastructure problems and outages
Work with IT Service Desk Technicians to ensure timely and proper resolution of service desk incidents / problems that require escalation, and provide technical expertise to other IT staff
Manage system patch management processes, imaging, scripting, and inventory control
Plan and implement server upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches
Participate in service desk Incident/Service processes; prioritize, categorize, and respond to service desk tickets and/or escalate as appropriate
Update computer configurations to meet IT security requirements (such as system patches, configuration management, antivirus client installation and configuration, central log management, etc.)
Increase automation of proactive monitoring and daily tasks
Ensure suitable monitoring and alerting platforms are in place to prevent system interruption, data loss or compromise
What You Bring to the Role
Education
BA/BS in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field
Relevant certifications such as MCSE, CISSP, CCNA, CCNP are preferred
Knowledge
7+ years demonstrable experience in a System Administration role across complex enterprise architectures supporting hardware, virtualization, networking, and cloud
3+ years' experience with cloud platforms including Azure
Experience in Intune and software packaging
Demonstrated expertise of firewall, switches such as Cisco and Cisco Meraki Networking technologies
Demonstrated expertise of TCP / IP communications protocols and subnetting
Experience maintaining enterprise grade SAN and NAS (NFS / CIFS / ISCSI) storage technologies
Expertise and experience administering Office 365, Azure, Meraki / Cisco, Ubuntu / Linux, and backups
Experience maintaining enterprise grade SAN and NAS (NFS / CIFS / ISCSI) storage technologies
Extensive knowledge of VMware vSphere & vCenter Products
Working technical knowledge of Windows Server 2008 and higher
Hands-on infrastructure hardware troubleshooting experience
Experience with servers and Storage Area Networks technology
Experience with Monitoring Systems, Powershell, Backup Solutions, MDM Solutions
Extensive application support experience with Microsoft SQL Server
Understanding of database architectures and related infrastructure design to optimize performance and reliability
Experience with migration of on-premises platforms to public cloud infrastructure
Track record of successful complex infrastructure project delivery
Skills and Abilities

Ability to manage simultaneous projects and respond to change effectively; ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Highly self-motivated and solutions-driven with a focus on delivering the right outcomes for the business

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Linux operating system is an asset
VMWare Certification a plus, not required
Work Environment
We are a hybrid-remote workplace combining in-office and remote work to varying degrees based on role requirements and employee location. This position may involve occasional travel within North America.
This position requires the ability to participate in an on-call roster rotation and flexibility regarding varied work hours required to address outage and maintenance windows.
