Job Summary:
Responsible for all aspects of billing, timekeeper setup, and rate management using Elite Legal Billing System, Elite Design Gallery and various electronic billing packages. Coordinates with Accounts Receivable/Collections Manager to promote timely processing of invoices, appeals, and collections thereof. Requires strong management and multi-tasking capabilities in a high-volume environment.
Responsibilities: Supervises Billing Specialists to ensure accurate timely processing of all firm bills. Shares supervisory duties with Office Managers for Billing Specialists located throughout the firm.
Assists Business Intake/Conflicts Manager in supervising work of File Opening/Conflicts Clerk.
Consults and coordinates with attorneys, staff and Billing Specialists concerning billing procedures to meet client-specific guidelines and requirements.
Manages Paperless and electronic billing processes.
Manages rates and rate exceptions.
Runs management reports monthly and on demand such as unbilled, outstanding, collected amounts and hours billed.
Sets up new timekeepers, including numbers and scheduled rates.
Handles Billing Manager end-of-month closeout procedures.
Answers questions from attorneys and staff pertaining to billing and client set-ups in the billing system.
Supervision received and/or Given:
Works under general supervision from the Operations Manager receiving both oral and written instructions. Supervision given to Billing Specialists.
Preferred Qualifications: College Degree
5+ years of relevant Accounting or Business experience.
Knowledge of Legal billing software (Elite Enterprise/3E knowledge preferred).
Strong management skills; managing multiple employees onsite and regionally.
Excellent computer skills including general knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, and database packages.
Above average written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and/or problems simultaneously in an efficient manner.
Working Conditions:
This position requires sitting for long periods of time while operating a computer. At times, employees are required to work in excess of the normal work schedule. Employees in this position must be mobile, have the ability to bend, and have ability to lift and carry files weighing approximately 10-15 lbs.
