Summary:

The Center for Public Health Law Research (CPHLR) is a fully grant-funded global research center housed at Temple University's Beasley School of Law. CPHLR supports the widespread adoption of scientific tools and methods for mapping and evaluating the impact of law on health by developing and teaching legal epidemiology methods; by researching laws and policies that influence health to support policy development and enactment; and by communicating and disseminating evidence to facilitate innovation. Recent Center projects have covered a wide range of public health policy topics, including drug policy, reproductive and sexual health, housing, and preemption, which can be viewed at PHLR.org.

The Center for Public Health Law Research at Temple University's Beasley School of Law is seeking applicants to fill one full-time Communications Coordinator position that will support communication and outreach efforts led by the Director of Communications. The Communications Coordinator will have a broad range of responsibilities and must have the diverse skills to support the in-house communications arm of this institution. The Communications Coordinator will primarily be responsible for supporting the production of data visualizations, video, online and print collateral, presentations, and press relations and marketing materials (press releases, e-newsletters, etc.). They will help manage social media accounts and updates to content on project websites; support brand consistency within and across the projects; and complete other tasks necessary for successful day-to-day communications and network-building for the Center's projects. These duties will require the applicant to translate and communicate research and data for key stakeholder audiences including media, policymakers, advocates, and the general public.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of relevant experience in public health, social science, or nonprofit communications. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

•Demonstrated organizational, verbal and general written communication skills and abilities, along with strong analytical skills.

•Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at minimum), and the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop at minimum).

•Familiarity with Drupal CMS.

•Proficiency with electronic communications and social media platforms.

•Ability to maintain accurate records and databases.

•Ability to balance multiple assignments from various program areas.

•Excellent ability to prioritize, pay attention to detail, manage time, and problem-solve effectively.

•Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain positive working relationships with diverse staff, foundation officials, partner organizations, contractors, and other key collaborators and colleagues.

•Demonstrated commitment to a diverse and inclusive work environment and to centering equity in executing key responsibilities.

•Ability to prioritize and meet shifting project deadlines with flexibility.

•Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

•Ability to collaborate with stakeholders across multiple disciplines and sectors.

•Ability to problem solve analytically and think critically.

•Ability to maintain professionalism and respect towards others.

•Demonstrated understanding of how public health is affected by systemic racial, economic, and social inequities.

Preferred:

•Experience writing for legal, public health/health and/or social science audiences.

•Experience with basic data analysis (descriptive statistics), and experience with SAS or SPSS.

•Experience conducting literature reviews or scans.

•Understanding of how public health is affected by systemic racial, economic, and social inequities.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
