Herschend Enterprises considers technology an integral part of its business operations, overall guest and employee experience, as well as a key factor to both enable as well as support future growth initiatives and is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer to assist in this aspect of its operation.
The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for gathering and transforming data into actionable reports and visualizations to aid the business in analyzing, planning, and managing its goals and objectives. Desired returns include (but are not limited to) improved employee and guest experience, increased business efficiency and effectiveness, and ability to scale and expand the HFE group of operating properties. To effectively fulfill these responsibilities, the Business Intelligence Developer will interact extensively both with internal Technology Solutions Group resources and other Herschend team members, as well as with external stakeholders such as vendors, trade associations, and other technology organizations.
Responsibilities
Develop new reports utilizing SQL Server Reporting Services
Have the ability to create a variety of report types including tabular, drill down, matrix, and charts
Test and validate reports to ensure data accuracy and quality
Write queries, views, and stored procedures to satisfy reporting needs using Microsoft SQL Server
Create scripts for importing, exporting, analyzing, mapping, and converting data using Microsoft SQL Server / SSIS
Perform query and report optimizations to increase efficiency of existing reports
Provide support for legacy reporting platforms
Troubleshoot data issues, validate result sets, recommend and implement process improvements
Have the ability to work with multiple database schemas and platforms
Perform ad-hoc reporting requests and data research
Work closely with multiple teams to understand & implement report requirements
Schedule frequently needed reports
Maintain code deployments to multiple environments
Skills
Strong proficiency with T-SQL
Practical experience developing ETL processes using SSIS and stored procedures
Handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly at all times
Ability to effectively communicate with various corporate, property, vendor, and other stakeholders.
Proactive, with ability to work independently and as part of a team, making informed decisions in a complex and fast-paced environment
Ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines
Computing: Mainstream Microsoft business applications, MS SQL Server, Git, mainstream BI and reporting platforms and concepts, modern data load and interface practices, datamart/data warehouse concepts and methods.
Strong interest in the field of theme park and hospitality technology applications with the emphasis on guest experience and improving business processes and efficiencies.
Flexibility; ability to deal with changing priorities and business seasonality
Ideal candidate is a self-starter and team player with excellent analytical skills, as well as a profound interest in and awareness of our guest experience.
Friendly, positive attitude with the orientation of moving forward and advancing technology initiatives even when it is not popular or easy.
After-hours and weekend support as needed
Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or relevant 3+ years development experience utilizing a wide range of Microsoft technologies.
3+ years of experience writing queries and stored procedures with Microsoft SQL Server
1-3 years of data analysis and development experience with business intelligence tools.
1-3 years of experience creating reports with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
1-3 years of experience developing quality data visualizations
