Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse

JOB SUMMARY
The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse independently plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care in patient care situations using standards of care and policy and procedure. This position provides direct nursing care to patients and assumes teaching and leadership responsibilities. Participates in unit committee and quality improvement activities. Needs minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Looks for opportunities and solutions for process improvement
Maintains the principles of confidentiality
Participates in data collection on unit
Performs thorough admission assessment
Identifies and prioritizes patient needs while evaluating data
Initiates and coordinates patient/family teaching
Evaluates outcomes of care to determine if patient needs were met
Documents clearly and consistently in the EMR
Provides feedback regarding problems and complaints, and offer constructive suggestions
Progress reports are made to the Charge Nurse as indicated
Accepts responsibility for own learning needs
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Intermediate computer knowledge
Specific requirements for NICU, MOM/BABY, LABOR AND DELIVERY, and PEDIATRICS
