Position Overview:
Arcxis is looking for a full-time structural engineer with 0-5 years’ experience in the residential industry and/or structural experienced utilizing wood to join our forensic engineering department. We are looking for an ambitious candidate that has experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel. This person is preferred to have previous structural design experience with wood construction and concrete foundations. This position will be based out of our Houston office and would help provide support to our teams across the nation. Examples of common daily work would include but is not limited to foundation movement evaluations, residential frame distress analysis, analysis of structural members existing and proposed, field support solutions during the construction process, and the preparation of the engineering reports.
The candidate will work directly under an experienced senior level licensed professional engineer, who is licensed in over 20 states across the US and who is also based out of our Houston office. Our current senior engineer for the forensic department has mentored many of our engineers and aided them in acquiring the necessary experience and required paperwork to become a licensed professional engineer. Minimal travel will be required but will be necessary on occasion. Most travel will be within the state of Texas to major metropolitan cities and surrounding developments. Candidates not able to or willing to obtain professional engineering license at a future date (once applicable experience is completed) need not apply.

Candidate must have accredited degree in engineering or elated field and be able to obtain professional engineering license at future date.
0-5 years previous structural design experience
Experience in AutoCAD
Strong writing/grammar skills
Ability to read and interpret residential architectural drawings (blueprints)
Familiarity in building codes
Ability to create frame and foundation details under limited supervision
preferred experience with building envelope requirements and code requirements for residential homes
Experience working with mechanicals and HVAC considered or home building experience is a plus
Able to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally with architects, builders, inspectors, and homeowners
Demonstrated strong organization and time management, which includes the ability to multi-task and run multiple projects concurrently
Must be willing to work overtime as needed to meet deadlines
Possesses leadership skills and teamwork attitude
Punctual, polite and professional manner required
Detail oriented
Strong attention to detail
Eligible to work in the United States
Fluent in Spanish is a plus
Some field time and travel required
Reliable transportation
Work Schedule:
Generally Monday – Friday day shift, however additional hours, including weekend hours, may be required in accordance with changing business needs.
