Harrison Gray Search has partnered with a leading carrier of specialty insurance products distributed exclusively through wholesale brokers that is seeking a Property Underwriter . Our client has been around for over 35 years and rated AM Best A++ and S&P Global AA+ . They strive to create an environment where employees and their families are well-supported.
Our ideal candidate will have 4+ years of commercial property underwriting experience. An Underwriter in the Property department markets, researches, underwrites, services, and retains profitable property insurance accounts, consistent with company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities :
Build upon and maintain a profitable book of business, working independently and using self-initiative and creativity
Maintain exceptional levels of job knowledge and knowledge of market conditions and advise management of how these impact our products and operations
Service complex property and inland marine risks
Review and analyze submissions for acceptability and completeness and secure supplemental information from various sources
Determine and recommend acceptable terms within limits of underwriting authority
Bind coverage and oversee timely issuance of policies
Service existing accounts
Monitor claims and loss experience on existing accounts and make recommendations for changes to make/maintain profitability
Collaborate with other departments on issues pertaining to their line of expertise
Examine policy language and make recommendations for change
Maintain relationships with existing producers and develop same with new producers
Conduct broker negotiations and presentation during marketing calls
Attends business related functions, such as team meetings, marketing events/trips, company events, etc.
Various other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
4+ years of commercial property underwriting experience
College degree or equivalent business experience required
Excellent knowledge of Property Coverages
Prior underwriting/brokerage experience required
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word & Excel)
