The Network Specialist – Outside Plant is responsible for analyzing the service locations included in a project migration to determine if service locations identified for a migration can be served. Must be able to name target access points and cable and identify pair ranges and assign feeder and/or distribution pairs.
Depending upon workload this person may be required this candidate maybe responsible for updating and building fiber records into various applications and databases.
Responsibilities Work in the Cut Analysis tool- Add new migration jobs
Name Target Access points- Input target DSA number, access point name and cable ID.
Identify all target access points and assign pair ranges- Review CAD map and/or GIS map for cable data. Verify all access points included in a migration. Review existing access point pair ranges and identify target pair ranges.
Assign target feeder and/or distribution pairs- Verify all subscriber locations are included in the migration by using various tools and applications. Verify calculated pairs and override as needed .
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Associates degree (or higher) AND 2 + years’ work experience in Voice/Data/Video networking -OR- 4 + years’ experience in Voice/Data/Video networking.
3+ years for Renumber and design
3+ years of CAD
3 + years copper plant implementation experience
Other Qualifications
Must be able to work independently or within a small group
Excellent leadership, customer relations and communications skills
Thorough Understanding of Telecommunications/CATV industry and principals.
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
5+ years’ experience in Telephony/CATV or related fields..
Excellent written and oral communications skills
PC database, spreadsheet and word processing skills.
Advanced working knowledge of NESC construction practices and engineering standards.
Ability to work in a cooperative and courteous manner with diverse work groups.
Ability to read and assess fiber and/or HFC designs and prints
