Youth Program Administrator

Youth Program Administrator Job Description: Job Purpose Youth Program Adinistrator  oversees the administration/coordination of all aspects of the ETS (Ending the Silence), Walk In My Shoes & NAMI On Campus. Including planning, organizing, staffing, supervising, outreach, leading and coordinating program activities. This position reports to the Education Manager & works with the Executive Director on a regular basis.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the daily operations of NAMI programs, such as “Ending the Silence”, “Walk In My Shoes”, “NAMI On Campus” etc. The Youth Program Admin performs a wide range of duties including but not limited to the following:

Ending the Silence

NAMI Ending the Silence (ETS) is a 50-minute mental health awareness program for high/middle school age youth. Teens learn how to recognize the early warning signs of mental illness and what to do if they or someone they know is exhibiting these signs. During the presentation, a young adult living with mental illness and a family member tell their stories about mental health challenges, including what hurt and what helped.

NAMI On Campus High School (NCHS)

Student-led clubs that raise mental health awareness and reduce stigma on campus through peer-led activities and education. The Club is open to all students – those with mental health conditions, those with family members with a condition, or students who are interested in the field or in advocacy. It is not a support or therapy group.

Walk In My Shoes

Youth program designed to engage participants in open conversations about mental health topics including symptoms, early warning signs and resources for help and destigmatizing discussions around mental illness while creating art.

Plan & Organize the Programs Planning, organizing and overseeing the operation of program

Interview and qualify all potential presenters

Coordinate and organize trainings for program leaders

Train, supervise and evaluate all employees presenting “Ending The Silence”, “Walk In My Shoes” & “NAMI On Campus”

Supervise the quality of the presentations

Manage program staff

Outreach and make contact with organizations interested in a presentation

Schedule any needed equipment for presentations

Communicate with the national office, NSOs, NAs, and/or external community partners

Track and report data for programs

Represent NAMI-SCC in our community by attending community meetings and promote working relationships with other agencies

Disseminate presentation evaluations

Provide timely and accurate records and reports for the monthly board meetings

Collaborate with NAMI CA about “NAMI On Campus”

Support county schools that are interested in starting a NAMI On Campus High School Club

OUTREACH Develop and implement outreach strategies

Create and execute strategic outreach plans to increase awareness and participation in NAMI-SCC ETS program among schools, school districts, community organizations, and relevant stakeholders.

Develop relationships with community organizations, local agencies, corporations and stakeholders.

Utilize various communication channels including social media, e-mail newsletters, and website updates to disseminate program

Established partnerships and collaborations

Build and maintain partnerships with schools, school districts, educational agencies, counseling centers, parent organizations, and other community stakeholders to promote program adoption and implementation.

Coordinate presentations and workshops

Organize and conduct presentations, workshops, and informational sessions for educators , school administrators, parents, and community groups to introduce and explain the benefits of early intervention programs

Control the programs Develop a yearly program calendar for “Ending the Silence”, “Walk In My Shoes”.

Identify and update list of contacts. Keep a track of the activities and create reports.

Collect and maintain presenter information for NAMI’s records

Maintain current and up-to-date program materials (hard and electronic)

Review extra handouts for dated material

Ensure program activities align with agency policies and procedures

Report evaluation findings to the Program Manager and recommend changes to enhance the program, as appropriate

Maintain current and up-to-date records of active/non active NCHS clubs

Qualifications

Education AA or equivalent work experience

Completion of a NAMI education program (Family to Family, Peer to Peer, BASICS or Provider Education)

Knowledge, skills and abilities Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to multi-task in a face-paced environment

Knowledge of client groups and/or issues related to the program area

Proficiency in the use of computers for: Microsoft Office 2010

Internet

Solve Problems: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gathe and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.
