Job Summary

Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and campus

policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods

and techniques for obtaining solutions.

UCSF Medical Center requires all Advanced Health Professionals (AHP) to be credentialed through its Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) in order to practice and function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric AHPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Medical Center sites (Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Satellite Clinics, et al). Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 30-60 days and must be completed within first 90 days of employment.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Required Qualifications

This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Thorough knowledge and skills of optometry essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to t his position.

Thorough knowledge associated with diagnosing eye diseases and varying conditions.

Thorough professional skills in delivering eye care, treatment and diagnostic services to patients.

Requires strong communication and presentation skills.

Requires effective interpersonal skills.

Must be able to effectively communicate findings of examination to patients.

Must be able to work in a collaborative manner with staff, faculty, and members of the health care community across the campus.

Position must be able to work with diverse client group.

Position must be able to provide direction and guidance to less experienced staff members.

Preferred Qualifications

Residency or Fellowship training

License/Certification

Possession of a license issued by the California State Board of Optometry to practice optometry required
