Description
Manages a wide variety of tax compliance services and reporting for the University. Prepare and review federal and state returns Payroll and income tax returns.
Manage Tax Calendar to ensure deadlines and federal and state due dates are completed, and tax returns are filed timely.
Keep abreast of new tax legislation directly impacting the University of Houston Systems and prepare tax memos to document findings.
Review U.S. tax treaties for faculty, students, and independent contractors.
Review income-generating activity to determine unrelated business taxable income.
Research and answer tax questions for faculty and staff.
Lead tax projects for new initiatives, which includes planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects.
Supervise and develop members of Tax team.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelors and 5 years experience
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience. 3+ years of tax compliance and reporting experience.CPA and MBA (Preferred).
