Clinical Research Nurse - Late Phase Oncology

This job prepares protocols and study budgets and coordinates efforts with the respective sponsor or industry and the facility's committee. Ensures the efficacy of clinical trials by managing the documentation, safety procedures, and clinical interaction of patients, study sponsors, and physicians. Coordinates support staff. Ensures FDA guidelines for clinical research and institutional polices are followed and reports any suspected research irregularities to the Office of Research Administration.

Education

Required -Associate degree in nursing.

Work Experience

Required -1 year of experience in area of assigned clinical specialty or 1 year performing clinical research.

Certifications

Required -Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.

Effective verbal and written communication skills ability to present information clearly and professionally.

Ability to exercise good judgment, handle difficult situations, manage stress and emergency situations, maintain a professional atmosphere, and provide quality service to patients/clients.

Ability to work independently, set priorities, remain flexible, make independent decisions, and maintain strict confidentiality of patient information as well as details of non-published research protocol.

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of FDA regulatory requirements.

Proficiency with standard concepts, procedures and practices of specialty field.

Organizational and time management skills.

Working knowledge ofdata entry and basic statistics.

Ability to travel (in and out of state) for training meetings and work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).

Job Duties

Provides leadership and manages human resources.

Works toward common goals by sharing knowledge and information with research team members.

Coordinates all aspects of clinical trials in accordance with the established protocols, FDA regulations, institutional policies, and ethical clinical practice.

Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Performs other related duties as required.
