The University of Colorado Boulder Office of Advancement and the
School of Education welcome applications for an Assistant Director
of Development! The Assistant Director is a key individual
contributor and partner for the School of Education (SOE) and is a
crucial part of the Office of Advancement. Under the mentorship of
the Assistant Dean of SOE Advancement and other senior members of
the team, the Assistant Director uses knowledge of fundraising
techniques to coordinate and implement development activities for
the School of Education advancement team and has a strong desire to
work towards becoming an expert level fundraiser. This is an entry-
to mid- level role meant to provide a pathway for a successful
career in fundraising and relationship management.
This position demonstrates strong relationship-building skills and
is responsible for cultivating new and existing donors and growing
philanthropic support for the University through planning,
cultivating, soliciting and stewarding leadership gifts of $5,000
and above. While the primary focus of the Assistant Director is to
secure gifts in the $5K-$25K range, this position will also be
tasked with securing gifts at $25K+ to $100K+ depending on their
portfolio and tenure. This position will travel regularly to meet
with current and prospective donors to establish relationships and
conduct discovery meetings. The University of Colorado

Duties include: Portfolio
Management and Donor Engagement
Develop and manage a portfolio of 120-150 individual prospects
capable of making gifts of $5,000+.
In partnership with the Assistant Dean develop annual goals
around development work (face to face meetings, proposals, dollars
raised, and assists).
Collaborate with Assistant Dean to develop strategic plan for
cultivating, soliciting and stewarding each donor as appropriate,
collaborating with the system’s gift planning team, colleagues and
academic partners when appropriate.
Conduct regular travel to visit with donors in pursuit of
achieving established goals and metrics.
Document prospect strategies and contact reports, evaluate new
prospects and generate stewardship reports and general
correspondence.
Other Development Duties as Assigned
Grow philanthropic totals by deepening collaboration with
advancement and other campus colleagues for enhanced donor
engagement. This involves participating in regular internal
meetings and engagement opportunities (task forces, frontline
fundraiser meetings, etc.).
Embrace a self-learner/self-starter mentality and continuously
look for opportunities to match donor interests with leadership
initiatives in pursuit of meeting established goals and
objectives.
Facilitate positive relationships daily between donors and CU
administrators, faculty and staff to ensure efficiency of
programs.
Represent the University at events to support CU and cultivate
donors.
Other duties as assigned.
What We Can Offer
The salary range is $66,000 - $78,000 annually. Relocation
assistance may be available within department guidelines.

What We Require
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience or combination of
education and experience may substitute.
