The Mental Health Counselor is responsible for overseeing the mental health team comprised of Substance Use Disorder Counselors and Case Managers. Working with job seekers across the Bay Area, the mental health team aims to connect clients with wrap around services as they progress towards or navigate sobriety and prepare for a job and career building. The Mental Health Counselor designs and leads group workshops to meet the specific needs of Goodwill's clients with the goal of repairing trauma from the reentry experience and building a safe and trusting community to support clients starting a new chapter. Expanding Goodwill SF Bay's services, the Mental Health Counselor leads the design of the program and development of the team. This position reports directly to the Director of Workforce Development.

The person in this role is expected to work out of our SF HQ a minimum of 3 days a week. Some travel is required within the Bay Area.

What You Will Do: Create the first mental health team for Goodwill of the San Francisco Bay comprising of case managers and substance use disorder counselors on staff who would support clients seeking employment, and help reduce the many barriers to employment they face

Recruit, hire, and supervise Case Managers and Substance Use Disorder Counselors in the development of individualized care plans leverage both internal and external resources

Develop and evaluate best practices, implementation of program procedures, guidelines, and tools for staff to use in providing wrap around services to their clients

Conduct ongoing needs assessment analysis and use the results to develop and execute mental health workshops to meet the specific needs of the reentry community

Refer and connect clients to other service and training providers to mitigate barriers, enhance employability, and maintain employment

Guide interdisciplinary team conferencing to ensure client success to sobriety, connection to employment opportunities, and additional case plan goals

Maintain proper notes and documentation in clients' electronic medical record, and comply with HIPPA and standards of care guidelines

Participate in clinical supervision and attend required trainings and agency meetings

Document client benchmarks, significant incidents, and other required information into Salesforce, daily as required by the program

Assist in the evaluation, planning, development, and implementation of program procedures, guidelines, and policies

As a member of Goodwill's Mission Advancement Leadership Team, accurately present issues that impact your ability to achieve maximum results, provide recommendations, problem solve and implement solutions to achieve outcomes

What You Bring to The Role: Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor with experience working with community behavioral health systems preferably in San Francisco, Alameda, or Contra Costa County

Demonstrated knowledge of the Wellness and Recovery Model, Harm Reduction, and other evidenced based practices such as Wellness-Recovery Action Planning (WRAP), Seeking Safety, and more

2 - 4 years of experience in a leadership role

Experience in building and managing a new team

Knowledge of different cultures, ethnicities, gender, sexual orientations, age groups and able to work effectively with clients and staff members of diverse backgrounds

Demonstrated skills in the creation and facilitation of group workshops

Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems

A growth mindset and a passion for helping people continuously improve

Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative, as well as foster teamwork

Ability to provide services in threshold language (e.g. Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Russian, Tagalog, Arabic) is highly preferred but not required
