Started in 2003 by a lifelong educator, Heggerty is a growing brand in elementary literacy education, serving thousands of districts across the United States, Canada, and Australia. Heggerty offers teacher-friendly phonemic awareness and foundational skills curricula, decodable books, and engaging professional development opportunities in person and online.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Senior Full-Stack Engineer will own and build out the architecture for the Heggerty digital platform, all the way from helping our content teams build out curricula to helping teachers teach in the classroom.
They will collaboratively work with our internal teams to create a high-quality user experience and seamless integrations across the front end and back end - allowing more and more teachers and students access to the Heggerty digital platform.
Responsibilities
Work with our product & design team to scope, refine, and iteratively develop a high-quality user experience for teachers, students, and administrators.
Work in Google Cloud to build scalable, resilient, and secure services and applications for both end-users and internal employees.
Establish monitoring and alerting systems to help troubleshoot and debug the Heggerty backends in production.
Build out backend APIs and frontend user experiences aligned to EdTech standards, making it easy for districts and schools to securely integrate with the Heggerty platform.
Mentor and work with a growing team to help build & scale systems to support a growing list of Heggerty products.
Requirements
Curiosity, empathy, and a passion for our mission and values
5+ years of experience working in the cloud (GCP/AWS) deploying and supporting frontend and backend services
5+ years of working with backend + frontend frameworks using JS/TS, React/Angular, Express, NextJS
Able to quickly pick up and work with new tools, technologies, and languages
Experience working with e-commerce platforms (Salesforce, WooCommerce, Shopify) is a plus
Experience with Infrastructure as Code is a plus
