Our Columbus, Ohio client has a contract opportunity for a Voice Network Engineer.
Hybrid work schedule would be 3 days a week (1 day being Wednesday) in the office and 2 days working remotely.
Must be local to Columbus.
Voice Network Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
Ensures optimal and reliable performance of telecommunications and VoIP systems including call center systems, voicemail, fax over IP, network infrastructure and telecom expense management.
As a key member of our IT team, you will be responsible for the setup, configuration, and management of our Microsoft Teams voice environment.
To be successful in this role, you must have a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Teams voice platform, as well as experience in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Teams voice services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Manages full life cycle of telecommunications systems: Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), as well as peripheral collaboration and mobility infrastructure (install, maintain, integrate, upgrade, etc.).
Provide Tier 2 technical support for voice-related issues, and maintain voice communication systems, including VoIP, unified messaging, and teleconferencing.
Familiar with telecommunication technologies and has experience in Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, and PowerShell
Able to deploy and configure Microsoft Teams Phone with PSTN connectivity through Direct Routing
Configure, deploy, and manage Teams-certified devices, audio/video conferencing, telephones, and voice migration.
Collaborates with telephony providers and third-party vendors to enable advanced voice features in Microsoft Teams and works with administrators for other workloads, including networking, identity, licensing, security, and compliance.
Experience developing and maintaining call flows, IVR scripts, and routing strategies with NICE CX One and/or Eng House.
Support MDM solutions - Microsoft In Tune.
Participate in planning and implementing upgrades and migrations of voice communication systems.
Executes changes to the environment within appropriate timeframes which may include non-standard business hours.
Design, setup and configure complex wireless networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications.
Maintain a thorough understanding of Local Area Networking. Troubleshoots and supports user connectivity, equipment, LAN/WAN network issues.
Configuring and installing client and server network software for upgrading and maintaining network and telecommunication systems.
Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
Responding to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors etc. to provide technical assistance and support
Manages Internet accessibility and CISCO based network infrastructure.
Ensures the proper management of all network related documentation, password and configuration management.
Provides availability to 24/7 on-call rotation as referenced in the IT Department on-call procedure.
Performs other duties as assigned.
May be required to be available through a mobile device via voice and/or data during and outside of normal working hours, at the manager's discretion, and must respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance required.
Lead/partner in meetings with other divisions requiring network connectivity for larger projects.
Foster relationship with the City of Columbus with fiber agreement partnership to deploy Client networks as needed in the expansion of service.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in computer science or a related field and ten (10) years of previous work experience with various levels of CISCO networking hardware in a Microsoft Windows based environment supporting a 24/7 production environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in public transit administration is preferred.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
CCNP or CCNA certification preferred.
Cisco Voice certification
Cisco Routing & Switching certification
Microsoft 365 Certified: Collaboration Communications Systems Engineer or Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Voice Engineer.
NOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Technical, analytical and interpersonal skills required
Knowledge of VoIP implementation and support
Maintain network security through proper configuration of VPN and Firewalls
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a small business environment
Knowledge of network and server operating systems including familiarity with client-server technology in a Microsoft Windows environment, exchange Email server, SQL Database Server, storage systems, disaster recovery and business continuity solution
Skills in verbal and written communication

Ability to set and manage multiple and competing priorities effectively for self and team
Ability to define problems, research issues and develop logical and practical solutions within the framework of general principles of information technology and the policies and procedures of the organization.
