TRC is seeking an accounting and financing focused project associate to support programs by providing incentive processing support for commercial buildings and coordinating financing access for multifamily project across California. The ideal candidate will have a combination of financial and project administration experience. We are seeking a team member who is personable, resilient, and excited to support successful program implementation with superb communication and organizational skills. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting affordable housing and has the desire to build and maintain solid relationships with building owners, contractors, financiers, and lenders focused on improving the built environment.
This position requires critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively and coordinate with internal team members and external customers. Previous program experience in one or more of the following is desired: energy efficiency, electrification, building performance principles and best practices, affordable housing. Adaptability to frequent program design changes and the ability to translate technical information to the market are required. A basic understanding of payment processing, financing, renewable energy credits, and low carbon fuel standards credits is desirable. Candidate must be detail-oriented, have strong communication and customer service skills, the capacity to take ownership of tasks once trained, and handle multiple projects. This position is based out of one of TRC’s California offices: Oakland, Rancho Cordova (Sacramento area), San Francisco, San Diego, Irvine (Los Angeles area). Remote working is currently in effect.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Support project incentive processing, including data entry, and tracking payment status.
Build and maintain relationships with financing lenders and program offerings available to multifamily properties regionally, statewide, and nationally.
Maintain knowledge and expertise in eligibility, enrollment, and program processes.
Research and analyze data to identify specific industry and energy use trends.
Support project tracking, reporting and other administrative duties.
Contribute to high-quality technical reports suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Providing customer service through lead nurturing and financing application submission support.
Maintaining up-to-date and accurate records to ensure program and contract compliance.
Maintaining technical proficiency when consulting with prospective customers regarding participation.
Reviewing program participation documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Communicating frequently with program participants regarding eligibility and program requirements.
Tracking funds reported in public databases.
Keeping informed of program changes, incentive status, and other information for customers.
Communicating program implementation status to internal and external team members.
Working independently as well as collaborating with multiple team members.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree and 2+ years of relevant experience OR 4+ years of relevant experience

Excellent critical thinking skills that include the ability to recognize opportunities and problems, and assess information to identify and troubleshoot solutions.
Analysis and inference skills to gather and interpret data and draw conclusions.
Effective communication skills to share and receive information with others verbally, nonverbally, and in writing.
Interpersonal skills:
Strong customer service skills that include highly effective communication in-person, over email, and over the phone.
Self-driven and a team player with analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with program participants and market partners.
Experience and comfort with public speaking and direct outreach, networking.
Organizational skills:
Excellent time management skills including the ability to monitor and manage progress while seeking additional opportunities within new or repeat customers.
Ability to follow established protocols and develop process improvement strategies
Experience utilizing a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system or a similar system to effectively track pipeline/outreach/business development activities.
Proficiency with computer and mobile technology devices.
Demonstrated experience and ability to effectively work remote.
Ability to prioritize multiple competing deadlines.
Proficient to advanced knowledge of MS Office tools i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Accounting/financing skills
Experience processing payments and tracking payment status.
Understands affordable housing market and associated challenges.
Understands renewable energy credits, low carbon fuel standard credits.
Has executed financing arrangements/agreements.
Has experience working in financial lending.
Understands the lending market.
Other
Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and a reliable vehicle.
Eligible to work in the United States. Ability to travel within California.
Affordable housing market, financing, lending, payment processing experience is a plus.
Certification or membership related to the building or energy industry is a plus.
