What you'll be doing...
This opportunity is for Military personnel who are current participants of the Department of Defense Skillbridge Program or are participants of the Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 3-2024
At Verizon, we're seeking to continue to evolve and expand our Application Security and Risk Management organization and are seeking candidates with readiness to learn and build their security skills across multiple areas involving securing Verizon Applications. As a member of the Application Security organization you will support the team within the following goals:
Leverage and learn about security technologies to help ensure our customers keep their systems secure and spot risks before they become real threats
Specific Activities:
Evaluating application/network architecture to identify security risks based on results of security scanning
Understanding the design of existing solutions to mitigate risk and close security gaps and reduce vulnerability
Supporting configuration analysis and installation of multi-vendor security products
Configuring security devices and installation of hardware and software products from across multiple security vendors
Additional Activities:
Key contributor in tool operations to include configuration and ongoing support
Leverage automation and managing access and integrations (i.e. CICD pipeline), identifying and mitigating security risks in partnership with application development, infrastructure support and other security teams
Balancing security requirements with the dynamic needs of our users and the values of our company.
Gain valuable experience and insight in protecting Verizon's application environments and will be at the heart of guarding our data and applications against advanced threat adversaries.
Responsibilities:
Analyzing & understanding security risks across application environments
Building and maintaining various toolsets for security analysis testing
Building and testing automation and platforms for security analysis and testing
Developing and monitoring security controls via automated scripts
Partnering with peers for developing security integrated controls within pipelines
Implementing continuous monitoring solutions via different tooling
Investigating security alerts and work with partner to drive remediation
Integration of security scanning solutions to CICD pipelines
User Management
Policy Management including creation of custom policies & triggering policies
Reporting
License and Cost Management
Tracking and reporting on the status of security tooling security risks to corporate/industry requirements.
Partnering with enterprise teams to establish preventative controls to support security needs via automation.
Performing all other duties as assigned

What we're looking for...
You'll need to have:
Must be a current participant of the Department of Defense Skillbridge Program or of the Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program.
Bachelor's Degree or four or more years of experience.
Four or more years of relevant work experience.
Two or more years in public cloud services ( EC2, RDS, ELB )
Experience in DevOps tools (i.e Jenkins, Jira, Git lab); OS platform ( Linux, CentOS ); development language ( java, python)
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
A Master's degree
Four or more years in one of more of the following: Microservices, Development, Security, etc.
Experience in Security Testing and Risk Management
Experience in DevOps
Experience in Container Securities
Experience in Cloud Computing
Demonstrated experience in creating reporting & metrics using excel (i.e. pivot tables), Splunk and or Tableau
