A Message from the Principal – April 23, 2020
CVHS Students & Parents,
We continue to hope all CV Families are keeping safe during the COVID-19 Crisis. Following the CDC and PA Dept. of Health recommendations will help us return to our community and school lives as soon as possible. As of this writing, we have five weeks remaining in the school year and it is critical that students participate in all classes. We have suspended the use of traditional grades for the 4 th Marking Period and are now scoring students each week based on their participation. These scores will help us determine whether a student will receive course credit for their current work, which in turn will have an important impact on their overall school record and transcript. Receiving course credit will determine the following:
Whether students will receive full credit for either a core or elective course
Whether a graduation requirement has been met
Whether a course will count as a prerequisite for a course they will take next year
Whether the credit will be counted in the class rank formula for underclassmen
To receive course credit, students need to be making a GOOD-FAITH EFFORT and demonstrate that effort to their teachers. This means students are:
Communicating directly with teachers through Schoology
Giving an honest and full effort to complete assignments
Participating in virtual meetings like Zoom or Skype
Showing teachers they are trying their very best to continue learning
Again, the pressure of traditional grading has been eliminated for the remainder of the school year so the focus should solely be on continuing to learn, grow and develop. It is true that our most meaningful life lessons come from times of adversity so this is an excellent opportunity! I have every confidence our students and community will see this challenge through successfully.
