The successful candidate for Manager, Real Estate will have proven success managing multiple projects and supporting development efforts in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a focus on growing and leading a team of subject matter experts. Location will depend on the focused region of your expertise and may be remote, or near an AES office. The candidate for this position will report to the Director of Permitting and Real Estate for the region.

The role requires the ability to manage a team of analysts and project managers focused on management of all real estate deliverables needed for development through construction, including financial closing(s) for multiple renewable energy projects throughout their region. The manager works with their cohorts in their region, the larger national team, and a cross functional team including permitting, origination, project development, legal, finance, engineering, construction, and other project stakeholders.

Duties will also include working with the director to implement strategies and standards, as well as management of real estate deliverables needed for development through construction, and financial closing(s) to back up the team you are managing.

Core Competencies :

Demonstrated experience in commercial title and ALTA survey related work including review, curative, negotiation, and coordination of all deliverables for renewable energy projects.

Exceptional organizational, communication, decision making/problem solving, analytical and time management skills.

Proven ability to work autonomously and thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment.

Team player with strong initiative and mentorship skills.

Track record of ability to instill confidence as a credible, reliable and expert subject matter expert for team members in technical matters.

Ability to critically and creatively anticipate, recognize and solve problems.

Ability to manage and mentor direct reports.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities :

Mentor analysts and project managers on the real estate team. Evaluate internal procedures and processes and provide constructive feedback for improvement. Provide QA/QC reviews of various documents for projects managed by direct reports. Track and manage workloads of direct reports; provide assistance as needed and re-assign projects as needed. Act as liaison to upper-level management for all real estate information related to their region. Act as a representative for AES in meetings with the community, elected officials, regulators and other stakeholders. Implement cost reduction initiatives, improve consultant partnerships, and invoice audits. Ability to train team to secure and analyze ALTA surveys and title policies for new and acquired renewable energy facilities across multiple local, state, and federal jurisdictions for projects in your assigned region. Identify and implement novel strategies to reduce project cost and impact. Manage contractors, vendors, and consultants to maintain project timeline and budget. Provide ongoing support to the project managers, as required, throughout the construction process.

Desired Skills and Expertise:

Undergraduate degree, paralegal certificate, or relevant real estate experience (title, land, mineral, and/or survey).

3+ years proven track record of real estate success in renewable energy project management, utility-scale environment, a plus.

2+ years proven track record in managing direct reports.

Ability to communicate efficiently in verbal and written correspondence.

Ability to manage conflict and advocate effectively.

Knowledge of renewable energy construction process; real estate development; renewable energy projects/assets, financing, evaluation and acquisition.

Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and Google Earth preferred.

Microsoft Office, project management software.
